The hike was more or less 12 km starting at the entry to Cootes Paradise from McMaster University. The Hamilton side of the Royal Botanical Gardens has a series of trails that lead to the Hamilton Waterfront: Ravine Road Trail, Ginger Valley Trail and the Princess Point Trail (5 km until the end of Princess Point Trail).
The Princess Point Trail connects with the Desjardins Recreational Trail or the Hamilton Waterfront Trail, another 5 km walk to the Hamilton West Hrbour.
The points of interest along this trail were the fish habitat islands and the harbour trolley.
The entrance to the trail at the West Harbour has the Bayfront Park.

The trail starts right near the Go Train parking lot and you pass the park, which leads to the paved trail. The paved trail is pretty damn long, around 3ish kms? It then leads to the rugged trail paths and wetlands.
It was a pretty peaceful place especially when you hit the rugged trails. Perfect for fall hikes but be warned about a blistering day out if you’re planning it during summer months.
Overall, it was medium difficulty. We were exhausted just finishing the paved trail while returning, it felt never-ending haha.
