Husband and I like to go here often to find cool antiques and yummy treats! I recently went here and noticed the poutine queen is gone which was super disappointing because it was a staple. It is replaced by a place called Saltys Diner. I ordered 2 regular poutine and it took 25 minutes to get our food which was long but we figured they were busy so we just waited patiently. When we got our food the fries weren't even warm, they were cold as if they had sat out for a long time. The gravy was super weird, it tasted like cinnamon and was extremely salty, and the supposed real cheese curds were nothing but processed mozzarella shreds so we were so disappointed. Especially for the price you pay for the food. Im all about supporting small local business so i dont usually mind paying more for good quality food but this was just not worth it. Not to mention the cook and her employee were not wearing masks and there were many people maskless which was gross. If you are concerned about the dangerous pandemic like I am then do not go here, they clearly have no regard for public safety or they would be following the restrictions and mandates like every other busniess. Honestly will not return here again after being a frequent customer for years. What a bummer. After seeing other reviews I can only expect some half witted and insulting response from the owner, instead of trying to show integrity and customer service he seems to act childish. Let me have...
Read moreI would have left a review elsewhere if it was an option but this particular vendor in the flea market, “The Sign Factory”, doesn’t have an option to leave reviews. My husband went to the flea market to see if he could get a particular sticker made. After approaching “The Sign Factory” (located on the outer perimeter of the market) and inquiring about the stickers, he was assured they could be made. He left a deposit and was told they would be ready the following Saturday. Disclaimer: we live approximately half an hour away from the flea market. He received a call during the week from the owner, who is the same person who told him the stickers could easily be done. He told him that he couldn’t make the stickers and seemed a bit surprised when my husband asked for his deposit back. To make matters worse, he wouldn’t send the deposit back via etransfer, and made my husband drive all the way back to the flea market to retrieve his money. The cost of gas there and back probably cost more than the $20 deposit but it was the principle of the situation. While my husband was retrieving the money, the owner didn’t fail to mention that “he was lucky to be getting it back as most places wouldn't issue a refund”. This was an eye opener and I believe he does this often in the hopes most people don’t fight for their deposit back. Be cautious of...
Read moreEdit to the owner: You're not doing yourself any favors responding to me passive aggressively. Frankly, you're lying. I was there Saturday November 19, 1 week ago, was among MAYBE a dozen people walking around, half of the stalls were closed, there was no live music, there are many empty stalls, and the stalls who were open offer little anyone would be interested in. Perhaps if you invested ANY of the money you've gained in 30+ years to maintain the place or update it in any way there would be more on offer. Your bitterness toward me for giving an HONEST review is nothing short of a joke. I was hoping for a turnaround for this place, but now I simply don't care. Good luck to you.
I grew up going to this place and it was always so lively and full of things you didn't even know you wanted or needed...it's become a sad place to visit over the past few years. I figured covid would certainly hamper it, but with retail having returned to pre covid norms this place looks like it's on its way out. If you were handed 500 dollars to spend, you'd struggle... not sure if there's anything that can be done to revive it, but sadly it wasn't even worth the loonie to park. I'll keep my fingers crossed that a miracle happens, I'd hate to see it go, but I unfortunately don't see much of a reason to return...
