So sad to hear of a drowning of a young lad at Langford lake this week in Mid June. Last year, on two different occasions at the beach near Starlight fields, I witnessed two young children nearly drown. One was about a two year old left on her own without any PFD. in the shallow water while the possibly new Canadians sat way up on the beach. Moments later the child was floating face down in the water. Luckily a gal ran and scooped her up. I’m quite sure the Ethnic parents had no idea about how lake bottoms get deeper . In the second instance, a five year old couldn’t go out to the wharf with his dad and brother because they only had one PFD to share between two kids. The mom, with new baby, up on the beach clearly didn’t notice the child bobbing out deeper and deeper…soon to be over his head, Luckily, his dad jumped off the wharf and saved him. So parents, please do not let your child in the water without a personal flotation device/ life jacket. The city of Langford would do right by installing a pegged board at each beach with some used but good life jackets in various sizes, and for children, that could be borrowed and returned after use. I saw this at a beach back east, and thought how clever. Now I can’t return to that beach for fear of watching another kid nearly drown. I should of spoke up but only noticed these near tragedies as...

A great place for all. Bring the kids, family, boyfriend, girlfriend etc. Dont forget to bring an umbrella as summer time can be especially hot. A beach blanket is a must as well. Generally everyone attending the beach is friendly. Ample parking for your vehicles a few minutes away. As most of the streets and homes in this area have no room for street parking. As always dont forget a towel if you are going to...

I took my 11 yr old daughter down to go swimming and some other kid tells his dad I was there watching him. As a result the peace officers got involved and I was found to be within my right to be there. For some reason the kid neglected to tell his dad i had brought my kid down. It's pretty pathetic when no one can take there kid to a park at a beach without the risk of being accused of...

Tge park is a natural beauty nestling in the middle of the city. It has a nice little beach 🏖️ adjacent to the playground. Also there are is a beautiful trail hours around it that could be explored walking or on a bike. The surrounding neighbour houses remind me of northern Italian villages. Parking is limited and a bit off the location ( needs few minutes walk ).

Really nice place for kids to go during the hot summer months. The beach has access from the road or from the trails in the area and there’s a parking lot just up the road with plenty of room. There is a walkway over the water and a floating dock for people to sit on or get into the water from. There are also a couple of washrooms near the beach for public use.

Small park with a beach attached to a board walk that leads to a trail along the lake with a beautiful willow tree There’s a picnic table, a children’s playground, and public washrooms. Lots of parking Sadly the main road is right there which takes away from the nature of it
