This is a library to avoid if you're an adult and want to work or study quietly during a weekday, especially on the internet. It doesn't matter if you choose to sit in a moderate quiet zone on the second floor or near the noisier music section on the second floor. Teenage people from some local school seem to spend time in this library during their school days. Two days ago, I got lucky and all the seats were full near the magazines and the teens couldn't sit, eat and socialize near where I was working. I worked on my online training course for SIX HOURS straight. Be aware of the teenagers: they bring lunches, drinks and coffee and talk nonstop using profanity in all areas of the library. Today, I was unlucky... Two teen girls sat at the table right next to me in the "moderate noise section" and ate, drank coffee and socialized. It was like listening to a badly written soap opera for 20 minutes straight - I couldn't care less about the details of the teen's lives. For example, I learned that one of these girls was awake until 1 am studying and that she was f'ing pissed off about it. I (a complete stranger trying to use the library) don't CARE about this teen's study habits. If you bring it to the attention of the staff, they're not direct enough. The teens quiet down and then start talking and mocking me, the person that they're disturbing. I had enough, couldn't concentrate on my online course, packed up and complained to the manager - that manager actually suggested that I should've moved to accommodate the teens. I moved outside to the community center area - it's much quieter than the actual library. Geez I'm the one who owns a house and is paying taxes that support this library - these disruptive teens are in high school. Go to Richmond Hill Central or Toronto Public Library...
Read moreI got a family gym membership last year and paid the required $250.00 on a 3 month promotion package. However, as soon as I entered the gym I realized that the room was extremely crowded with mostly teenagers with no free station for me and my family. I retuned to the reception immediately and requested the cancellation of my membership but they refused to pay me back any money. The gym is too small and given the number of people inside, I am not sure if they meet the fire department's maximum capacity requirements in case of a fire or an emergency. The mangers were rude and refused to cancel my membership even one minute after they charged my credit card. This is a scam by the City of Markham. The City should service...
Read moreI visited Thornhill Community Centre for the Happy Cute Mart holiday market in early November, and it was a pleasant visit :) The community centre was very big, and we were guided to go into one of the multi-purpose rooms with 80+ vendors inside from the south entrance (wheelchair is accessible).
I didn't get a chance to explore the entire space, but I knew that there is a Tim Hortons on site, 2 skating rinks, a library, plus, washrooms are available throughout the community centre.
There were plenty of parking spots around the building. Though for this holiday event, the lot was maxed out, and we had to park further out. The local bus actually comes through the...
