Good for: Views, watching airplanes, cricket, dog walking, tobogganing
Accessible: Yes but be prepared for hills and driving/cycling/walking some distance to access the park entrances
Problems: Hilly and windy, no direct road/cycle/path access of Courtneypark Rd.
Danville Park is located off Danville Rd. in Mississauga. There is an entrance off the north end of Danville Rd. for cars, cyclists and pedestrians, and an entrance at 6275 Danville for pedestrians and cyclists.
Danville Park is very large, stretching from Courtneypark Rd. down nearly to the 401, though not all of it is accessible. It is a high and windswept park, probably best enjoyed when it isn't windy or cold (though some of the area looks good for tobogganing).
The Final Approach: Danville Terminal, at the north end of the park, is located at the highest point of Danville Park and is built on an aviation theme, since planes taking off from and landing at Pearson Airport fly past. There is a steel sculpture that resembles a paper airplane, binoculars to view planes and the airport, interpretive plaques highlighting aviation history, and paint markings resembling an airport runway and flight apron.
South of the parking lot are two large circular zones which look like cricket ovals. They're certainly...

but it’s certainly a great place for environmental education for school children as you can clearly see how the waste management company process the garbage from the hill top; how the heavy duty trucks jam up the industry park…I guess it will not be very romantic to take your date there for a picnic unless you are dating...
Read moreI was searching for a lookout spot for my plane enthusiast's friend who was visiting, and I found Danville in a Google search. It took me about an hour to get there. We surveyed the area and went to the top, hoping to do some plane-watching. We did see planes coming in, but it was far from our expectations. We didn't have the satisfaction of seeing the aircraft up close but rather at a very distant distance, and I mean very far away. That quickly smothered any excitement left within us, and shortly, we'd had enough disappointment to consume an Elephant, so we trotted our little old selves back down the hill and left. I won't be returning. I can tell you that much. To each his...
