AVOID IKEA KITCHEN SERVICES IN MONTREAL (CAVENDISH) and their subcontractor CONSTRUCTION RÉNOVATION FIXE TOUT at all cost. They destroyed our new hardwood (maple) floors. Our hardwood floors were installed 6 weeks prior to Ikea showing up to install our kitchen cabinets. I requested that our central kitchen island be assembled without attaching it to our new hardwood floors to avoid damaging them, but Ikea insisted the island needed to be screwed or glued to the floor. If not, they would not install it. After 20 minutes of discussion, we requested that the island be screwed to the floor to minimize the damage to our hardwood floors. At the end of the day, when came time to finalize the installation of the island, the workers insisted that the distance between the central island and the wall cabinets be increased, while I argued that the distance be decrease to leave sufficient space for our dining set. After 30 minutes of discussion, I finally accepted their suggestion thinking that I could move the island at a later time if needed. The workers completed the installation of the island and started packing their tools. Having completed the installation, I stepped outside for 5 minutes. When I returned, the workers had calked the entire island to the floor with permanent calking, knowing that the location of the island may not be final. They did not ask for permission, they just proceeded to destroy our new maple floors. The next day, as expected, we realized that the amount of space for our dining set would be insufficient. Unfortunately, applying permanent calking around the island has maximized the damage to our new maple floors and the damage is right in the middle of our kitchen, for all to see. We sent a registered letter to IKEA KITCHEN SERVICES IN MONTREAL (CAVENDISH) and their subcontractor CONSTRUCTION RÉNOVATION FIXE TOUT asking them to remove the calk on our new maple floors. CONSTRUCTION RÉNOVATION FIXE TOUT never responded while Ikea responded that our warranty was now void because we had tried to move the island. We asked them what could be used to remove the sealant. CONSTRUCTION RÉNOVATION FIXE TOUT proposed a commercial product that had no impact, while IKEA KITCHEN SERVICES IN MONTREAL (CAVENDISH) sent us a 1 pager describing the difference between a sealant, calking, and glue. These people are really pathetic. Avoid doing business at all cost with IKEA KITCHEN SERVICES IN MONTREAL (CAVENDISH) and CONSTRUCTION RÉNOVATION FIXE TOUT. They will destroy your home and not take responsibility for it. The cost (10,000$) to replace our new hardwood floor exceeds the cost of the cabinets and their installation. The mandate was to install our kitchen cabinets, not glue them to our new maple floors. We are now sewing IKEA KITCHEN SERVICES IN MONTREAL (CAVENDISH) and CONSTRUCTION RÉNOVATION FIXE TOUT and awaiting our day in court. On top of it, we cannot finalize the installation of our custom countertops has the cabinets and hardwood floors have to be removed and reinstalled before final measurements can be taken and countertops be custom made. IKEA KITCHEN SERVICES IN MONTREAL (CAVENDISH) and CONSTRUCTION RÉNOVATION FIXE TOUT should be avoided at all cost. Beware.

We were looking for a narrow storage cabinet to fit in our closet. We found what we thought was the perfect solution. Better yet upon ordering it downstairs we found that there was a 90" tall one, perfect...or so we thought. We got the various boxes home to begin building the cabinet. IKEA used to have flawless instructions, I used to marvel at how their design teams would diagram without words brilliantly how to put the piece together. This cabinet was an exercise in utter frustration. It came with no less than 6 instruction booklets all with no rhyme or reason at which of the 6 to build first. The instructions themselves were terrible. When we finally got the bulk of it together there were many parts left; like extra hinges, wierd flat plastic pieces which would mount on the bottom of the cabinet and serve no purpose, various screws, etc. No handles were supplied to open or close any of the drawers and no pedestal or "toe kick" provided even though both of these items are clearly in the picture with the price tag. But I could have forgiven all that frustration but when we went back to IKEA and waited 45 minutes to explain the situation with the receipt, all the manuals, and pictures to the return department, we were rudely treated and they clearly had no intention but one, and that was to be condescending to us enough that we would leave and they could do the same to the next person in line. They told us that we should have known we had to buy the handles and toe kick separately. Really? Why would we know that? Did the sales person who put the order in inform us? No. Did it say on the tag that these items are sold separately? No. Well, the return people got just what they wanted, and that's just what we did. We left the store. We won't be back and we'll share this unpleasant experience with most of our friends.

My review is strictly about some of their HUMAN personal and the way they do not want to sell other than online (machines). We visited the store last week on Cavendish, because we are old fashioned people and wanted to see the furniture displayed before shopping. We went to the kitchen section, the table wasn't there; one girl in a very sarcastic way sent us downstairs, another girl sent us to another girl that girl sent us to another girl and none cared about us. Furthermore, we went downstairs and a guy from the warehouse said he wasn't of that department but cared about finding a guy who confirmed that table wasn't on display and sent us to buy with a girl upstairs. The girl upstairs barely knew about what we asked because she wasn't from *that department neither* but she asked the kitchen department and confirmed that the table wasn't there assembled. We finally decided to buy even though we couldnt see the table and asked about the financial plans. The girl says that we would have to call a number or shop on line. It took us two hours to play around to at the end buy on line and choose delivery on Monday. Today is Tuesday and I haven't received the furniture because I received a call yesterday from the delivery company indicating that the truck was broken and they would deliver today Tuesday. I really hope I get to see my furniture in my house this week. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE AT IKEA from A to Z. I really hope the store director takes care of putting together all the cylos and care about people buying and needing people, real people in stores. Thanks

I had a delivery date of Sunday 15th September. Then IKEA changed the delivery WITHOUT TELLING ME. I was then told that the delivery would be split into two parts on Monday 16th September. IKEA told me that one delivery would be in the morning 09:00-13:00, and the second 13:00-17:00. So I had to take an entire day off work. I was given one tracking number for both deliveries. This linked to the website of the delivery company that IKEA used. However, their information just said that everything would be delivered between 13:00-17:00, which contradicted the information from IKEA.

The first delivery came after 13:00 with just one item - half of my sofa without any legs. I received an automated phone call at 14:25 from times to say that my next delivery would take place in the next hour. But nothing came - and 90% of my items (half of the sofa, the sofa legs, a bed frame, mattress, pillows, bed linen) were in this delivery. In addition to this, everything on the IKEA website and the delivery company’s website said that all items had been delivered - which was incorrect!

At 17:00 I called IKEA, who said that they would start a case to sort out the problem. They also offered to re-order the missing items, to which I objected because clearly the items had been packed and were sitting somewhere. I tried to call the delivery company myself, but the phone call was sent back through to IKEA. At 19:30, I still had no sign of a delivery, no calls from IKEA or the delivery company… So I called IKEA again, who called the company - IKEA said that they asked the company to contact me asap and assured me that the delivery will come today because the company confirmed it to them. But nothing has happened yet. Nobody will give me a delivery day or time. I cannot go out the house to buy food or go to work tomorrow morning because I might miss the delivery. I have been messed around so badly. I was told that my $59 delivery fee would be refunded as a gift card within 5 days. But this whole situation is a joke!

My delivery times have been messed up and changed and nobody is telling me what is going on. I’m still waiting - I’ve been stuck inside all day! I also had to sleep on the floor yesterday because IKEA changed the delivery without telling me 🙈 UPDATE: it is 20:30 and nobody from the delivery company or IKEA has contacted me. So I still have no idea what is going on or when my furniture will arrive. UPDATE: I have called again at 21:00. There is still no sign of my delivery. The IKEA worker has tried to call the company again, but she said that the delivery company is not answering because they have probably closed for the night. The person I spoke to also had a really bad phone connection and I couldn’t hear properly - it was a painful 20 minute phone call asking the worker to repeat themselves because of the bad connection. I tried to call back, but IKEA has now closed its phone lines. Therefore I have NO IDEA WHERE MY DELIVERY IS OR WHEN IT IS COMING.

I have spent a day off work to receive this delivery. You have messed me around with false information, changing my delivery time without telling me, and nobody can tell me where these enormous items are! When are my items coming? Atrocious. I hope you do more than just a $59 gift card as an apology. My items are now at least two days late and nobody knows where they are!

22:00 update: the delivery never came. I had to speak with someone on the chat box for 20 mins. Nobody knows what is going on. I just have to wait until tomorrow… except, what if the company decides to come while I’m not here?! No one will give me a time slot. At this rate, I will have spent three days waiting.

UPDATE: I was asked this morning to contact via social media. I have done so on two platforms but no one has replied. I called two times on the phone. All you are doing is offering to redeliver in three days time or that I should wait for the trace request from the delivery company - but this can take several days.

I AM SLEEPING ON THE FLOOR WITHOUT ANY BEDSHEETS BECAUSE MY ITEMS ARE ON...

Utterly baffling delivery experience so far. $3,000 order was placed and set for delivery on July 12. Delivery never arrived. Contacted customer service. I was told "Your order has been delayed due to some transportation issue and I would like to apologize for that. However, please don't worry it should be delivered to you tomorrow before the 9 pm."

So we waited 9am to 9pm on Saturday. Nothing arrived. We contacted IKEA again and were told: "as I have checked it is picked and it will be delivered to you within 48 hours." We were also told the tracking numbers with the shipping company.

So we waited Sunday, then we waited Monday. Nothing. Called the shipping company, they've don't have the tracking numbers we were provided in their system. So we get in touch with IKEA again. This time I was told: "As I am checking the status of the order is showing as ready for dispatch and I have added note on your order to deliver the order as soon as possible however if the order was not delivered till 18 July you can connect us back and we will create case for you and process the replacement of the order or refund for the order."

So at this point, we've waited for this delivery for four days, and now it is ready for dispatch and might be delivered by the 18th or if not I can contact them again. It's worth noting I don't really mind the delay, but trying to figure out when I need to take off and be here for the delivery has been a nightmare. It wasn't so bad on the weekend but at this point we've had to shift our work schedules around for nearly a week to accommodate an order that we were told would be here Friday, and that I cannot get a consistent answer on where it is or what the actual delivery time frame is. I'm A-Okay with it being delivered on the 18th! Just please tell me the actual expected delivery date is!

So let this be a warning when ordering IKEA furniture in Montréal, you might well get Schrodinger's Delivery where it is simultaneously exists in a state of about to be delivered, picked up by the shipping company, and ready for dispatch, and may be delivered between 1-6 days (or longer!), in a 9am-9pm window.

Now you may be thinking Aha! I'll use the online tracker instead, wrong! The online tracker for this order still shows me that it is almost ready for delivery on Friday, July 12, between 5pm to 7pm.

So in a sense I applaud IKEA, they have mastered non-linear time deliveries and seem to very determined to deliver my furniture to me in the past. However, despite these achievements there does not seem to be any way to consistently know where my delivery is, what the status of it is, when it might actually be delivered, and what days I should be taking off work to receive the delivery.

They were, however, kind enough to offer me 10.00 CAD gift card for this inconvenience. Absolutely inspiring. I figured this to be roughly 28.5% of a IKEA Blahaj plushie shark(small version, not the big one!!), which is better than no...
