Overall mall quality/shopping/services have dropped over the years. A good portion of the stores are owned by a small group that act like a wannabe mob. They try to control every other store. The majority of the jewelry stores have the same couple owners and its the last place you want to shop if you enjoy good service.(theres maybe 2 jewelry stores that are still good and aren't part of that "clique"). Some stores try shaddy tactics, especially with old ppl. You know when you're in such a store. The vibe in the store doesn't feel right. One recurring tactic is they show you a price and all that and then distract you by chit chat while you pay by debit/credit and will enter a higher amount on the machine. If you pay attention to the card machine (which you should all the time regardless) and notice a price difference, they'll act like it was a mistake but you'll notice they get frustrated immediately because they got busted. I've seen them berating an old person trying to have them pay 50% more then the final price at the cash until another customer that overheard everything stepped in. There's been numerous complaints about these shaddy tactics and nothing has ever been done because like i said, the mall is run by a tiny clique that aren't even the owners if the mall of have any relations to it. Its also very clear some stores are probly just launder*ng fronts. Some of these stores should not still be in business with the amount of customers they get.(some have shut for less.) Mall was ok 10/12 years ago. The last 7 years have seen a steady decline. (Even spoke with a shop owner and from is mouth, told me he tried getting a local 10 years ago but couldn't because he didn't want to pay a certain fee that wasn't part of the contract and didn't go to the mall company. He was able to get the store local about 5 years ago when top management person got booted out but he says that same clique still run the show and will charge extra fees non-related to the rental contracts. When you complain to the proper management of the mall, its main company, you get hated on because you didn't let a minut group take advantage of you.) Just be careful where you shop in there and watch what you pay. (Mostly the little shops...
Read moreMy business partner and I had plan to open a store at Place Versailles for our two brands beauty products for men and women. We discussed about price and lease options with Ms. Elizabeth Payne the director of that particular location in Montreal Canada and she suggested to us to take over a unit that was ready to lease and recommended that unit to us.
We had some interesting exchange on the unit which she pushed us to take. When we decided to call her in order to finalize the deal and take over the unit, she decided not to respond to our calls. But unfortunately, one day we encountered a very rude and ignorant secretary who was so arrogant as to humiliate us on the phone to say that Ms. Payne was not available and refused to give us the right information.
When we asked what was the best time to call, she responded in a very strange manner, Sir, I have no idea. The next day, we called back, and the same secretary said Sir, I cannot force my boss to speak with you nor to respond to your email. On three occasions she said that Ms. Payne was not there at the office which was a flat out lie. When we finally followed up with an email, Ms. Payne finally responded with an email accusing us of speaking offensively with her employee and sent us an email that somebody else already took the unit.
From that, we understood that was their strategy to find a way out of the deal to reject our offer because of discrimination against us. Later, we found out that the place was still available. Very bad location for a new entrepreneur to start a business! We will not stop there and make sure this never happens to other people again.
Very poor customer service at the office managing the mall. Very dirty and poor management. When going to their office you will notice a police warning tape in front in third floor stopping you from entering. Crazy area managed by...
Read moreGo here for a retail experience similar to that which existed before retail got dominated by big box stores and Amazon. Place Versailles is Located adjacent to the Raddison subway station in East Montreal (Anjou). It is is a very large, clean and well laid out indoor mall with ample underground and outdoor parking. There are over 200 retail business here. Most stores are relatively small but they are well stocked, interesting establishments with friendly service. Most offer a selection of merchandise and brands that is different from what I've observed in other parts of Canada and the US. There are also several larger and more familiar multi-national name stores but they don't dominate the otherwise friendly, intimate atmosphere in the mall This is a great place to just hang out and simply watch people. Lots of folks and families can be seen enjoying their shopping experience and time together. This is also a good place to buy a unique gift if you are a visitor from outside Quebec. I came across no language issues and was politely served by anyone that I contacted.
FOOD: There are several Quebec/French type restaurants , as well as Lebanese, Chinese, Thai...etc. style restaurants. There are also some typical fast food outlets. The restaurants will have varying levels of service and prices with most quite affordable. Place Versailles has been buzzing and alive with activity, live music and Christmas cheer during my early December evening visits in the past few years . Check it out when you are...
