Always wanted to check out a planetarium and this was a brilliant opportunity during my group's trip to Montreal.
Friendly staff with great fully bilingual service.
The place is really well kept, I loved the anesthetic especially of the 'starlight wall' you see when walking into the exhibit area.
Had no idea what to expect and was pleasantly surprised by the films - ended up seeing Planet 9 and Continuum (not sure about the name of the second one haha).
They've got a sweet collection of meteorites in exhibit for sure. I loved checking the place out between films - the interactive exhibits were quite interesting as well.
The lines for the theaters may look intimidating big but it isn't an issue due to the large seating capacity. Lines move real quick once the doors open.
I loved the films! They were interesting end quite engaging, but my favourite part was how immersing the viewing was. The theaters themselves are large domes with what seems to be 360 projection. You're sitting leaned way back looking up and it often feels like you're 'in' the film due to being surrounded like that. Looking at the lights/exit during a film proved an interesting illusion as it appeared they were moving in relation to the film, rather than the other way around.
I really dug the subject matter of Planet 9 which was very well presented. Continuum was stunningly beautiful.
A very diverse audience as well, many folks were there of varying age - families, etc. It seems like a decent time for kids but the films might freak them out.
A fun stop during my trip to Montreal, got to enjoy the park after as well. I look forward to coming back sometime.
I got tickets for the Planetarium and the Botanical Garden however due to my own poor planning, construction and time constraints I actually couldn't make it there on foot before having to leave! Just couldn't figure a route that'd take me there and wasted a bit too much time. Haha, woops.
Not a big deal as I enjoyed the walk in the park on a gorgeous day. The area really is a site to behold.
Would've loved to see the biodome and insectarium but I'm just gonna have to come back in 2021 for those...
Read moreAs a visitor to the Planetarium, I was thoroughly impressed by the captivating blend of education and wonder. Let me share my insights on this celestial haven:
Educational Videos on the Milky Way: The planetarium’s educational videos about the Milky Way were nothing short of mesmerizing. With symphonic music as our backdrop, we embarked on a cosmic voyage that transported us thousands of light years away from Earth. The stunning visuals and expert narration left us in awe of our galaxy’s vastness and complexity. Celebrating Scientists and Inventors: The planetarium doesn’t just focus on celestial bodies; it also celebrates the brilliant minds behind scientific breakthroughs. Informative displays highlighted the contributions of scientists and inventors throughout history. Learning about their discoveries and innovations was both inspiring and humbling. Meteoroids Unveiled: Our encounter with the educator was a highlight of our visit. Spending considerable time with us, they delved into the fascinating world of meteoroids. We learned how these celestial travelers form, their diverse properties, and their impact on our planet. My son, in particular, was enthralled by the educator’s depth of knowledge. Inspiring the Next Generation: The planetarium is more than a place of facts and figures; it’s a beacon of inspiration. For young minds, it ignites curiosity and encourages them to take their education seriously. As a parent, witnessing my son’s fascination with meteoroids and the universe reaffirmed the importance of such institutions. In summary, the Planetarium is a gem within the Montreal Space for Life—a complex that celebrates nature, science, and our place in the cosmos. Whether you’re a budding astronomer or simply curious about the universe, this planetarium promises an...
Read moreVisiting the Planetarium in Montreal, Quebec, was such an amazing experience! I highly recommend getting tickets in advance since it’s a popular spot and can sell out quickly. One thing I appreciated was the option to choose time slots based on language, with shows offered in both French and English.
The Planetarium is also connected to the Biodome, so it’s a great opportunity to explore both if you have the time. For our visit, we picked a double feature. The first show, Celestial Chronicles, started at 6:15 PM, and then we watched One Day on Mars in English. Both were educational and engaging, packed with fascinating information about space and our solar system. One of my favorite parts was seeing the real-time night sky during the show, where we learned about constellations and celestial movements happening right above us.
This was such a fantastic family event! We all learned so much while enjoying the immersive visuals and storytelling. Did you know that Mars has the tallest volcano in the solar system? It’s called Olympus Mons, and it’s about three times the height of Mount Everest - such a cool fact to learn!
As a first-time visitor, I was really impressed with how informative and entertaining the experience was. Whether you’re a science enthusiast or just looking for a unique outing, the Planetarium is a must-visit. I’m already looking forward...
