Restaurant Jardin Botanique — Restaurant in Montreal

This is not a restaurant but a small cafeteria.

I stopped here for dinner while waiting for the Jardens de lumière to start. There is a menu posted but you line up, grab a cafeteria tray and walk down a cafeteria style display of premade food and select what you want. There are people there to put your premade sandwichs into a panini press but nobody is making food for you. There is nobody cleaning up dishes, nobody checking in on you. The only service is staff taking the food you point at, putting it on a plate or in a panini press then someone at the cash register taking your money. You're otherwise on your own.

I had a sandwich on focaccia which was good. I had wanted the dal and naan that looked really good but changed my mind when I witnessed an employee take the spoon out, stick their bare (no gloves) finger in to the dal in the spoon to check it's temperature then put the spoon back in the dal. I also noted staff seemed to be wearing a glove only on one hand but would handle food with both.

The location is amazing in that you walk outside with your tray of food and can sit outdoors and look at beautiful flowers.

They could do a lot with this place and I hope they do. Turn it into an actual small restaurant or cafe where the food is fresh and improve the food handling skills of...

Food was decent at best. Really pricey for what it offered. went 2 hours before closing and had already run out of everything, mind you this was at 1h45PM ish.

Able to buy snacks and whatnot but would refrain from unless absolutely have too, cheaper if you purchase them before in the many grocery stores around the area. Staff was definitely friendly nothing to say about them, not their fault the place hasn't being reno'd since 1990 (probably earlier) Good news is that they're doing reno's right now so i will be updating the review once that's done. Has a vegan option if you're into that. Terrace to eat outside.

Only restaurant inside the Garden, so far. Might wanna eat before and bring sandwiches to save money. The decor was absolutely horrendous and outdated as well, the good thing about it was the huge windows enabling us to...

The restaurant is not well organized at all, we were waiting for 45 minutes to order two sandwiches. The quality is so so and the price is reasonable.

We would try to prevent going there again (our first time was summer 2021/ same chaotic system), and it's a shame as they have a beautiful terrace and ambiance.

Recommendation for the employees / manager: You can make an easier menu with a (still) more limited options. You don't need to ask everyone who orders a sandwich if they want a salad with it (specially that you have four types of salad). Don't make it complicated. Stick to the basics.

The system is obviously not working. There were 5 employees at the counter, moving around, doing different tasks, and at the end they were asking : what else you ordered?

Macdonald, Subway, Ikea counter can be a good inspiring business...
