Once arrived at the location, one is bamboozled by the long line curling outside. A crowd of Hochelaga locals patiently waiting for this supposedly heart-warming ice cream. Slightly discouraging at first, but we waited. And waited. Inside, the line kept testing our knees’ will to live. We finally ordered, and I gave a fake name to the young cashier, clearly working there for a little pocket money and maybe a summer story to tell. After about a 10-minute wait, my sorbet was called, for my invented alter ego. A strawberry and basil mix. One spoonful in, and the strawberry smacked my palate, quickly chased by an earthy, herby brush of basil. Unexpected, refreshing, oddly charming. A surprising taste, worth the wait, the kind that feels like slogging through a dull book just to find the last page unexpectedly beautiful.

Hoche Glace is definitely a super cute shop in Montreal, and the service was great — really friendly and quick. I love the creativity behind their menu, and they have so many fun flavors, including lots of vegan options. We tried the chocolate-dipped cone, which was tasty, and the apple crumble soft serve. The apple crumble flavor was good — creamy and smooth — but it honestly felt a bit like someone blended apple pie into ice cream. It didn’t have that wow factor I was hoping for. Still, I can see the potential here, and I’d definitely go back to try some of their other flavors like matcha, pistachio, or tiramisu, which sound amazing. Overall, a cute spot with a lot of promise — maybe I just need to find “my” flavor next time.

Tried the macha and pistachio ice cream. Was very good and very fresh… thoroughly enjoyed it. The only reason for the lower star rating is the price, unfortunately. The price listed in my opinion for a “blizzard” is already on the higher end of things with 9.85$ for a small,, but there is an additional 1.50$ extra upcharge for that specific flavour. Total cost was just over 12 dollars. While I really enjoyed it, and they did add quite a nice amount of matcha and pistachios (which I get are expensive), I personally can’t justify 12$ for one ice cream. Kudos however to a really lovely ice cream shop with fresh ingredients and friendly staff which I would have otherwise gladly returned to 😊

Probably the best ice cream in town. I give 3 stars because while I see your employees working hard (or maybe they're not) to serve everyone, it still takes way to long to get served.

Even if you have great ice cream people will eventually go else where, because waiting over 30 minutes is crazy... Tonight May 26, it took us almost 30mins to take our order and get our ice cream, I could have order and received food at a sit down restaurant in that time...

I think part of the bottle neck is with the placement of the menus. People can't see the menu properly and can't make their decision properly while in line.

Your menu also confusing, difficult to understand and the type is too small to make matters worst.

If you would place the menu in other strategic places, or make a set of small menu/pamphlets that people can take and read while on line they will be able to make up their minds fast before getting to the cash, this would hopefully with speeding up the order taking allowing people to flow through faster...

Second, while staff is nice & helpful, but they could be working a little harder & focused during the rushes to insure that customers get served faster. Where's the manager to help coordinate the rushes???

Also, while writing this, I'm really down for seconds but I'm not going back in line -_-.

In all seriousness, people will start going elsewhere for their ice cream fixes, if it mean waiting for more than 15mins.

I'll change this review to 5 stars when I see an effort to...

MOST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE EVER! I was very excited to try this place after seeing so many good reviews. We ordered the apple crumble one but they served us ice cream that was half MELTED (our bowl looked like soup after 2 minutes). Me and my friends understands that mistakes happen especially on such a busy day so we went back to the counter and asked them politely if they could remake one for us. The girl working there gave us an annoyed look and said that we had to pay again for them to remake it! She even admitted that they used apple straight out of the oven today so that it’s melted for everyone!! How is this acceptable? We came here for ice cream, not a warm sweet soup. After many back and forth with that worker (who had a HORRIBLE attitude), we finally decided to speak with the manager who agreed quickly to remake us an ice cream after seeing the state of the one we were served. The attitude and arguments given by that worker were UNACCEPTABLE. As someone who is constantly trying new food spots in Montreal, this was the WORST service i’ve ever gotten (not to mention how the ice cream tastes really mid, not...

Hoche Glacé in Montreal is hands down one of the best ice cream shop I’ve ever visited! From the moment you step in, you're greeted with a delightful array of flavors that are both unique and incredibly delicious. The quality of the ice cream is unmatched - every scoop is creamy, rich, and packed with flavor.

One of the standout features of Hoche Glacé is their fantastic vegan ice cream options. They offer a variety of vegan flavors that are just as rich and delicious as their regular options. As someone who tries to avoid dairy, I was thrilled to find such high-quality vegan choices.

The staff is friendly and always willing to offer recommendations if you're having trouble choosing from their amazing selection. The ambiance of the shop is cozy and welcoming, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy your treat. Whether you're a local or just visiting Montreal, Hoche Glacé is a must-visit for any ice cream lover. I can't wait to come back and try more flavors. Highly...
