We visited Lion's Head for an evening of star gazing with Bayside Astronomy. We had planned to take in one of their events for several years now and never made it for one reason or another.
Bayside Astronomy consists of a group of about 10 or so volunteers who share their love of astronomy with the public. They run their program about 50 nights each summer. They brought about 10 very large telescopes allowing about 100 people who attended to view various planets and galaxies, without a long wait. They meet at the marina around sunset and generally stay until the last people viewing decide to call it a night.
We were fortunate enough to have a clear night, to see Saturn, it's rings and one moon; Jupiter and 4 of its moons and the andromeda galaxy before calling it a night. To the north of us the Northern lights started to make an appearance, to top it off.

Overall, it's worth a quick visit to walk around and take in the sights, but an hour is more than enough time to...

I do recommend planning six hours for this hike . The view was nice, but if you didn’t come, you...
