Beach Estates Park is a lovely little gem of a walk that travels through a lengthy ravine starting on Departure Bay Road across from Brooks Landing and takes you right down to the waterfront. At that point you can veer left or right to get to local neighbourhoods, or at low tide you can also walk along the sea floor to where it reconnects with the walking path at the BC Ferry Terminal. The City of Nanaimo is planning to connect these paths to extend the waterfront boardwalk. The park is made up of a series of paths, walkways, bridges and staircases that winds through a lush, mossy, green forest. It really is quite beautiful and is like a different world down there. There is a lovely waterfall along the path and at the right times during the year it is suitably impressive, especially as one of the more elaborate bridges crosses right in front of it. Do be careful as the steps, walkways and bridges can get quite slippery during rainy and...

20 out of 5. Ok, so not many know about this trench of a park. It's kept me n my dog sane as we've had no trails close to our home after living Squamish for a few yrs.

It's a great trail to explore from the beach to the Brooks Landing Mall. Fyi: if yer stuck at the ferry lineup with your puppies. This is a trail for them, and there's also save on foods at the top of the trail n other services you may need for the crossing.

I give this trail of a park 20...

You would never know that this place is right in town in Nanaimo. An easy hike through the woods at the top of departure bay and island highway. Parking at the church or at save on foods. Great hike and would be kid friendly. Waterfalls and huge trees and the trail is currently being maintained and fixed up. The end of the trail is a beach near the ferry terminal. Check it out if you need a break from the “big city” Nanaimo Livin! 5...
