DO NOT TRUST FRESHNESS. Bought a $25 dollar filet of sockeye hoping to treat myself and a couple friends to a nice meal, when I got home and took it out of the bag I was immediately hit with the smell of rotten eggs. I’ve cooked salmon plenty of times and I knew it shouldn’t smell like that. I put it back in the fridge and went to return it the next day as they had closed the night before and when I showed the older lady at the counter she smelled it and told me that that’s what salmon should smell like, that any foul smell would just be from the oils in the skin, never heard that before. She told me to rinse it and it would be fine, I was pretty skeptical but the lady seemed nice and I figured she’d know what she’s talking about so I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt. We have found the best Dungeness Crab! Thank you to Seadrift for being well stocked on very lively and good sized crab. The salesperson was fearless in reaching into the tank with bare hand and showed skill in picking out the crab while avoiding the large pincers. We asked her to clean the two crab and she double bagged to ensure no water escaped. At home, I found the crab to be very well cleaned and ready to cook. Ah, delicious, that unmistakable sweet flavour of fresh Dungeness. Crab is always a splurge for us and a way to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. Based on this, our first experience with Seadrift, I would say you can’t go wrong in choosing them. I look forward to trying other types of seafood and perhaps having a meal at one of their tables. Bought “fresh” cod from here, excited to make fish n chips and when I took it out of the fridge 2 hours after having bought it, it smelled like rotten garbage. It looked perfectly fine so I didn’t know when I was buying. I took it back to return it and get the issue resolved and the server is like it smells fine and this is what cod is supposed to smell like. I’m sorry no food is supposed to smell rotten. Especially not fish. Fish shouldn’t smell fishy unless it’s been sitting for a while and it should smell rotten only if it’s in the garbage. She returned my money back to me but the customer service is horrible. Why would a customer lie to you for $14? And drive two ways to and fro the market? I’m never going back. You guys can make...
