Chapman Mills Conservation Area is such a beautiful, well-maintained spot and a real gem in the city. It’s the perfect place to get outside and enjoy nature without having to go far. The area is right on the water, which makes for some stunning views while you walk the trails. Everything is kept very clean, and the trails are clearly marked and easy to follow.

One of my favourite features is the large dock, which makes it super easy to launch a kayak or canoe and get out on the water. There’s also a shaded picnic area with lots of tables, which is great for taking a break or having a casual lunch outdoors. Along the long, scenic trails, you’ll find plenty of benches to sit and relax, making it a great place for all activity levels—whether you want to take a long walk, go for a paddle, or just enjoy some fresh air by the water.

Overall, it’s a peaceful and accessible conservation area with a little bit of everything—beautiful views, water access, and great amenities. Highly recommend spending some time here if you’re looking for a relaxing...

This is a pretty walk along a busy lake. There are well maintained boardwalks and pathways. It is an out and back walk. It's nice but there is a lot of road noise. The pathways are set back a good distance from the major roadway beside it. The noise of vehicles is a constant buz. I would say if you live in the area, it's a nice walk to get the kids and the family dog outside. There are several spots along the route where a your pet could get their feet wet and enjoy a break from the path. If you are looking for a more natural area for birdwatching or getting away from noise this is not it. You can launch a kayak or SUP from there. There is a small area just down from the parking lot that is ideal...

Just love Chapman Mills for being in the city! Best time to go for walk with or without dogs on weekend đŸ¶ is early morning because this place gets very busy on weekends! Shared pathway for walkers, bikes, strollers, runners, etc. Some stretches of pathway are boardwalk. Lots of nature but when busy with lots of screaming kids, you don't see much. Highway noise too. Sadly because there are way more people than natural areas & parkland, many of these places are frequently crowded. Also, people really need to learn to respect the world around them because sometimes there is litter around and garbage receptacles are only at entrance. Small lot...

Wonderful little conservation area on the shores of the Rideau River near Barrhaven. A short 1.8 Km (return) walk along a well maintained pathway, partly gravel and partly boardwalk, situated between the river and Prince of Whales Drive, you start at the parking lot and end up at the new Vimey Memorial Bridge on Strandherd Drive, crossing over several small bridges and passing lots of benches to rest and enjoy the view up and down the scenic Rideau River. Lots of opportunity to see small wildlife, from squirels and chipmuncs, to ducks and herons. Bring your camera!
