I felt like slummin' it on this occasion of getting my pie fix. Our usual fare is from the local family owned pizza place that has STELLAR food. But, sometimes, you just need something quick and dirty. I thought I was going to regret it. I thought it was going to be on par with the cardboard that's served at that other pizza place with the orange sign. I was in and out of the store in less than 2 minutes. One medium plain pizza. One order of plain wings. Total price including tax of just under $15. For pizza AND WINGS! Driving home, I thought to myself "this is not going to end well". Walking into the house with this fare, I swear my kids have radar. They appeared from nowhere, with smiles on their faces. Both of them looked at the box and, knowing my preference for fresh, tasty, locally made farm-to-fork food, declared with scepticism "interesting choice". Half the pizza disappeared in less than a minute. The crust was soft. The sauce was zesty. Could have used more cheese. Maybe next time. The wings were SALTY with just a bit of heat. No sauce. I'll get sauce next time. I can't believe I'm saying this out loud - there WILL be a next time. And, the fact that they are less than a 5 minute drive from home, I think there may be more than just one "next time".
