Westboro Kiwanis Park — Attraction in Ottawa

While strolling through the neighborhood, I was delighted to hear the voices of about 250 youths laughing and screaming with pure joy. I turned to see several tents and many staff T-shirts weaving between the nearly countless numbers of children, on this hot and humid day.

There is a wading pool and a full play structure(with soft padding for falls), a large field for running around; including the biggest slip and slide apparatus that I have ever seen(most likely taken out for this particular day)being watered down with a fire hose!

I sat and watched the orchestrated chaos for about a half hour, while being reminded of my youth.

The Dovercourt Community Centre is close by and offers a number of options for fitness, including a large indoor swimming pool, hot tub and sauna. They also offer fitness for people with physical disabilities and are very supportive to those who have mental health conditions.

The yard is kept clean and is well maintained with many benches to sit on as well as picnic tables.

It truly was a hidden gem to be found in the middle of Westboro.

Thank you to all the positive and helpful staff members at Dovercourt Community Centre and thank you to the City of Ottawa for keeping this place so well maintained and available with many fun activities from the nearby Dovercourt Community Centre.

Honestly, we thought we would have to go to Kanata for thr large park experience, with such inclusive activities including different play areas, tobbogan hill, pool, one large structure that is for all age groups, the tore swing safely out of the way from the other activities. Two swing sets adjacent to eachogher for safety as well kust makes it so much better! They have multiple options for the baby swing, including the see saw one where the adult can sit infront! Big kid awings with the strap in swing as well. Not to mention the AMAZING section behind the playstructure that is an obstacle course any child would be willing to try pueces of, and many the whole thing! Everything there works, is durable, and sturdy! They also have this donut shaped structure, with climbing holes all around it and it warps and twists as it goes round! The ice rink is HUGE, and the field is twice the rink size! Little fences here and there keep it organized and help set limits and boundaries for children i.e stay where I can see you providing them with the freedom and chance to have independant play and learn responsibility!

Dovercourt community center is an excellent venue. It has indoor and outdoor activities. There is a small gym and a large pool inside. They have many different activities for your family and are located in Westboro. There is plenty of parking and classes seem to be available most of the time. Swimming and other classes in Ottawa are often down to calling the exact minute that registration opens and hoping that you are lucky enough to be one of the ppl who gets through. It is very difficult and frustrating to register your child for things in this city. We have had excellent t success...
