I just love this place and the way the city of Pickering is maintaining it. It's a must visit place in the summer. Very quaint and relaxing with ample bench locations for resting and just watching the lake and the sea gulls fly by. If you are lucky you may spot a couple of swans and or a beaver. Parking is difficult to find but not impossible. It's best to park on Liverpool and walk to the lake. There are a few shops along the way to get ice cream or coffee and tea. Read moreNice walk today on the west shore beach and out to the end of the breakwall. Just a few people out getting some exercise or walking their dogs. Nice area for a quiet walk. However, a note on the noise. There were hundreds of geese, ducks and swans on the edge of the open water and they were making a lot of noise. We didn't mind, but they were loud.
Also saw either a mink or a weasel on the breakwall. Interesting to watch from a distance, didn't want to get too close to upset it.
