Though parking can be a problem on the weekends and during peak times, this park is the perfect place to spend the day. There's a large playground (wood chip ground) with three separate swingsets, three slides (more if you count all the spots you can slide around on the 3 sea creature structures), a zipline, and more structures which kids of all ages can hide in and maneuver about on. Then, when the kids are tired of all that climbing and swinging, there is a sand beach to sit and play on. More than just a kids spot, this park is also scattered with about a dozen picnic benches as well as other seating. There is a reasonably-sized grass field on which kites can be flown, Frisbees tossed, etc. Bathrooms usually have soap and a hand dryer (but I can't recall if it has warm water). Though it has been closed off because of COVID-19, there is generally a water fountain/bottle filling station available near the bathrooms. At certain times of the year, dogs are also welcome on the beach. I spent 5 hours there this spring with my 3 kids, aged 2-10, and they were never bored. Just thirsty- bring...
Read moreOne of my favourite beaches for many reasons. It is a great place for family, by yourself or a couple of friends. You can park in the parking lot (toilets here as well) by the playground which the kids love - Zip line for the smaller kids (under 12) and that is so popular. Lots to play on, places for picnics and field for running. Right attached is the beach which stretches a long ways both directions. If you are looking at the water then head to the far left along to the end for a quieter environment. This area of the beach gets the sun late in the day and wonderful for picnic dinners on a blanket as the sun lowers itself. Lots of dogs running by on this end which is entertaining but sometimes you will need to direct them away if you have food. Very relaxing and you get a different vibe depending on where you want to situate yourself. Definitely where the locals go so join in. Buses arrive nearby. Close to pub, restaurant and grocery stores a couple blocks away. A...
Read moreCaddy Bay is a great beach. The sand is soft, there's driftwood to sit on or to mess around with, and there's an excellent concrete platform on the east side for any activity that needs solid ground near the sand. There's a wooden swing attached to a tree on the west side (right when facing the water) to check out. There are restrooms of decent hygiene by the large grass field near the entrance of the beach. Alongside the restrooms is a water fountain with a pet bowl attached and bike racks with plenty of room. You can probably tell by the pictures but the playground is also massive with plenty of fun structures for the kids to play on. Definitely an excellent choice of beach to visit whether you're coming through or have been in Victoria for...
