I was looking for a no-frills room for a three-day conference that would be within walking distance of the university. I got a room for $50 plus $10 for breakfast for two nights and then ( for one night) a bigger room with a private shower for $80 plus $10 for breakfast. I thought this fit the bill perfectly. While it is true that the cost of breakfast was extra, it was a great breakfast and I thought it was good to have it as an option rather than as an included cost. The family was very charming and accommodating, although it is true that they are also very busy with other jobs and are not always available to help out immediately. But I am still very happy that I stayed here, especially since the University Residences were not open for the first week of May. This B&B is not recommended for people who expect to be pampered as part of a luxurious holiday, but I will probably stay again, because $210 is a great bill for three nights stay, and because I feel very comfortable with the house and the...
Read moreI recently put my mother up at this "b&b" (I say this facetiously as no breakfast was offered in any fashion) and let me say, the room was basic. Bed, non-working TV, fridge (not sure if it worked) and microwave. Hardwood floor, no rug. The door didn't have a good seal and the bathroom was shared in an adjacent hall with another room. It was basically a student room rented out at off season B&B rates ($50+tax). Whoever was staying in the other room apparently couldn't decide to come or go and went in and out 6 times in an hour (slam, creak, slam, lock, unlock, creak, slam, slam. repeat x 6). I was hoping this place would be fairly nice as it is close to my residence and we have other inlaws...
Read moreThe owners of this house are very nice people, but they work full time, and the B&B is an after-thought at best. I was quite an effort to get power to the television, to get clean, dry towels, etc. Also, the breakfast advertised is evidently non-existent.||||The good news is that it's very reasonably priced in an expensive city. The drive from the house to downtown Victoria is about 10 minutes, nearly all on main roads. There are also a couple of very nice little breakfast places within about a 5-minute drive. The neighborhood is residential, so there are only a few little stores down at the corner.||||In short, I would only recommend this place if money is a MAJOR...
