This was my second time at Village Val-cartier, but my first time during the holidays. I was expecting chaos and disorder, but overall, was very pleased!
Check-in went smoothly, I arrived at 4:30 PM, the room was ready and clean..rooms are spacious, we had the King Bed Suite with 1 closed off bedroom. We were 4 in the room. We did feel we lacked some space overall to do activities in the rooms when not outside the room, but for sleeping it was really good. With the amount of kids present, we felt the rooms were properly sound proof, but having a room at the end of hall for sure helped with that.
I have an electric car and they have 5 spots for cars to charge, others guests were very polite and didn't leave their cars in their spots except for this one BMW who had no curtsey at all and stayed in the same spot for more than 2 days, but I was able to get my car charged and topped off. Worst case, there's a DC fast charger 15 mins away.
We tried the restaurants in the hotel - honestly, unless you have no other options, skip the restaurants for now. They lack staff so wait times are VERY long. Food quality is a little above average however, but very expensive. What we did is we went 15 mins away at Val-Belair and they had a breakfast place and some better restaurants for cheaper and more on the plate.
We had some tickets for Bora parc, we had a special with 3 days unlimited access so that was cool. Parc was crowded, but not to the point of it being unenjoyable. Both my kids had a great time. We also went to the outside winter slides which were also pretty fun with many options and an easy uphill tube ride that made it much more fun! We didn't try the Ice Hotel, just because we didn't see the point with our young kids and we didn't feel like we missed anything.
Staff was friendly everywhere we went, we went to the front desk a few times for more hot cocoa or coffee cups and always got them without any issues, all questions were always properly answered.
They also have an arcade inside which to my surprise was still quite clean. We went 4 years ago and most machines were still there from back then and still functional. So we spent some time there too and had fun also.
Overall, our experience was really fun, but exhausting running after our kids :) I would recommend. You are also not too far away from Quebec city to do some activities. We went to the Cineplex in Ste-Foy (25 min ride) to watch a movie...
Read moreOne of the best resorts we've been to. The whole place was so organized and efficient with the crowds and lines being reasonable for a busy time. The whole place is set up to discourage line cutting - something I've never seen before. There is an Ice Hotel but we didn't go in. The digital games room was worth it. The prices were very reasonable ($1-$2) with a variety for the family. The play times are also a reasonable length again adding to the value. Spending $30 gives your a $40 card. We still had half left after playing for an hour (the card has no expiry so can be used on other visits). Bora Water Park's cleanliness and set up were above par. We loved the traffic light system telling people when to go. The capacity is limited so we never felt crowded. The Wave pool was a lot of fun with different types of waves but the water was freezing. The air temperature was good and we never felt cold waiting in line. The Riviera was the best "lazy river" experience with multiple surprises. The only downside was the chaos of the changing rooms but that's fairly unavoidable. Lockers are $10 with a $10 key deposit. Our second day was spent tubing. It was amazing. A bit icy but that didn't affect the ride too much. The lifts are fun, if not a bit embarrassing when you miss. The steep hills are very steep but so much fun. The medium runs had the longest line ups but were the most fun. Again, we liked the barriers that went up when it was time to go. Overall, we were very impressed with the whole place. There was nothing we were disappointed with. We will definitely return to experience the...
Read moreCan't honestly give this a high review, while the park itself is very well made and the attractions are fun in and of themselves, there are two major issues - Firstly, they allow far too many guests at once. Most of the attractions were the equivalent of 30-40 min in line in order to slide down a waterslide once. Not great when you need to keep a little one happy the whole time. We arrived at 11 sharp, stayed until close, and were only able to do 6 of the attractions, with most of the time spent in line. Secondly, do not bring your little one if they are close to the height limits and expecting to use the slides. Our youngest was definitely over 48" as measured at home by us and his doctor at the office, closer to 49", and was clear of the line marker at the gates, but was then booted from line twice by someone with a beat up stick with tape on it that they placed UPHILL of him, and both times were AFTER we waited in line for 20+ minutes, instead of at the start where, if youre going to vet like that, you should have an attendant. There was also another incident where my daughter was told she couldnt take a slide in a swim shirt, again, after waiting in line for the entire time to get up there. I checked for a sign near the entrance of the slide after, and nothing to show that is visible in either english or french. Personally, if i came back i would you nly do it as a camper in the campground attached, so that you could spend multiple days and try it all. As a day trip from Quebec city, i thought it...
