This is a beautiful vineyard offering thoughtfully crafted small batch wines. The owners cheerfully share their extensive knowledge of the winemaking process and their love for it is obvious. Tastings are $12 not refundable with purchase as they are generous pours and include a personal experience from either inside the tasting room or at any table on the deck or surrounding grounds. Standouts for us were the Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Sparkling and we left with several bottles of each. The Traditional Method (Champagne) Sparkling is not on taste but I had tasted before, it is a absolute favourite. After tasting you can purchase a bottle of wine to drink at your table (by the glass not available on their license) along with food you have brought in. We stopped by Francis Bakery beforehand and picked up baguette sandwiches which were delicious alongside the Zweigelt Rose. A lovely way to spend a few hours in the afternoon though keep in mind there is no shelter from the weather outside. Only open Saturday and Sunday as well as a stand at the Saturday market. Some wines are available in local liquor stores of you can’t make it on...
Read moreKutatás Wines was one of the highlights of our trip to Salt Spring Island. The location is peaceful and surrounded by natural beauty — it really feels like you’ve stumbled onto something special. The winery itself is small and intimate, and that’s exactly what makes the experience so unique.
The tasting was relaxed and personal. The team was incredibly kind, welcoming, and clearly passionate about their craft. They shared stories behind each bottle, and you could tell how much love goes into every step of the process. The wines were outstanding — fresh, elegant, and expressive. The skin-contact white and pét-nat were absolutely memorable.
It’s the kind of place where you don’t just taste wine, you connect with the people and the land behind it. I highly recommend making time for Kutatás Wines if you’re on the island. It’s a quiet gem that offers something...
Read moreHorrible customer service. We reached at 4:50 because the restaurant we had lunch at had a long wait. The lady at the counter said it's too late to do a tasting even though it specifically states tasting closes at 5 pm.
There was a huge crowd in their outdoor patio casually sipping wine and with no intention of leaving any time soon, so not like they would have closed the winery any time soon.
Here I thought people at the island are friendly but I guess not. How long does a tasting even taste? The lady doesn't seem like she needs any business.
Honestly I tried their wine at the Saturday farmers market and it doesn't taste good. The lady will only provide good customer service if you're buying wine from them.
Don't bother wasting your time in going here. Garry Oaks is much better.
Tips for the owner: stop false advertising and actually put that tasting...
