I came on a Saturday morning around 9:30am and there was a consistent line out the door while we were there. The line moves at a decent speed and we ordered the ham and jack croissant (pretty good) and the breakfast sandwich which was the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. I'm not a huge fan of a lot of breakfast items (i stay away from things like english muffins, sausages, and bacon. Egg is ok but makes me feel sick at times) but let me tell you this sandwich was actually so good. I was visiting from out of town so am not sure if this was a special or something they make on rotation but it tasted like a delicious burger to me lol. No photos cause we were hungry and devoured it. It was on the pricier side for $16 for only a sandwich, which is more than what I would like to spend. We didn't order any drinks so can't speak on that.

There is indoor and outdoor seating available. There was a little stage being set up outdoor and it looked like a band was going to perform. Not sure if it's part of their bakery or if it's for the...

Was in salt spring for 2 days for a work trip. Came here on a Thursday morning right at 9am and there was already a lineup. While I was in line, I was reading the Google reviews and saw 1 review where they mentioned this was the "bakery of gods". I laughed and thought "no way, this man is overexggerating". Boy was I wrong.

The moment you enter the bakery, that amazing smell just hits. Then, the first things I ordered were the chocolate croissant and miso chocolate cookie.

After the 1st bite, I was blown away. This croissant is probably one of the best croissants I've ever had, the flakes, soft texture, chocolate and taste were just perfect. Same with the miso chocolate cookie, it would just melt in our mouth.

The moment me and my team finished our first order, we went back to line to order some more because it was just too good.

Amazing pastries and great vibe from the staff, all friendly. Would highly recommend, definitely need to visit. I think about those pastries everyday. My only regret is not buying more...

I really tried to give more stars to this place but I really can't. I gave 3 because I like to support local businesses but I think there is a lot of room for improvement. The location itself deserves 5 stars: It's nice and pleasant. Came here twice. First time we bought a baguette for $2 but it was burned in majority of spots and hard. We ended up not eating it at all. It looked like a piece of wood 😅 Second time we came for breakfast. We thought that we just got unlucky with the bread so we came again. We ordered their toast ad jam. Bread, 4 pieces, was again a little burned but overall good taste. The jam was delicious but (yes, another but), it was enough for only just a piece of bread, without being generous with it! Very disappointed again because the jam was really good. Maybe we got unlucky, again the location and people are very friendly, but I usually make bread (and jam) at home and this experience was...

My goodness EVERYTHING they make at this bakery is INCREDIBLE! Having lived in France for 8 years (in addition to being a chef) I feel very confident when I say that this place blows every pastry experience I have ever had out of the water - BY MILES! This past weekend I ate a pain au raisins and a ham and cheese croissant...and then promptly burst into tears (of joy!) it was SO INSANELY GOOD! I was in heaven! Thank you, Francis Bread, for all the deliciousness you strive to create and put out into this world. Here's to another 5 year of successfully bringing me to tears every time I get over to Salt Spring and can enjoy the fruits of your passion and steady labour <3

Having traveled extensively across both Western and Eastern countries, and sampled a vast array of cuisines, I was not prepared for the culinary surprise awaiting me at Francis Bread on Salt Spring Island, Canada. In a region where one might expect more conventional fare, the breakfast sandwich here stands out remarkably. The fusion of flavors, with a subtle Asian influence, elevates the dish, making it uniquely suited to the island’s eclectic culinary landscape. The balance of tastes is both unexpected and delightful, leaving a lasting impression in this often-overlooked corner of Canadian gastronomy.
