A nice man-made "lake" inside of Green Timber Urban Forest. It is stocked with fish and is home to many species of wildlife. Fishing is allowed, though I personally wouldn't eat anything caught here. I would be interested in seeing what water sample analysis shows in the water, as much of it is actually runoff from roadways, surrounding homes and businesses, or anything that goes into a non-sewage drain and can be directed this way. It is a major catchment, especially for areas to the south/south-west. It is the same thing as over at Hawthorn Park.
The fact the water is road run off is one of the reasons you are supposed to stay out of the lake, and keep your animals out of the lake. The chance of infection is high, among a number of other issues you could get from essentially rolling around in or eating from a gutter/ditch/etc... This doesn't seem to be very well known, nor is it made obvious, or I bet people would rethink eating/swimming or allowing pets...
Read moreNice area to have a picnic or bbq. The parks lake needs to be inspected. There are no trout that I seen in the 6 hours I was there. There is another species. Looks like a breed of cat fish or some type. I caught three of them. Please add more fish ! Clean up the West side of the lake so that it can be used ! Dredge some of the underwater lake grass . There is Not enough fish or places for anglers. Room for 8-10 anglers for entire lake, any more anglers then that and it’s crowded. Please enforce the rules. Keep the dogs on a leash and out of the water. It’s a fishing lake not a dog pool. I do not think I will ever return there. If I do it will not be for the fishing ! They do have lots of awesome walk and...
Read moreGreat park and as I was walking on a trail alongside the lake on June 16, I saw something distressing: a gosling with a fishing line looped around its neck. Just a few minutes ago I was watching the geese family as they were feeding on the shore of the lake and everything nigh looked fine. MIt must have got caught around the young goose’s neck when they entered the lake shortly after.
I did contact the Wildlife Rescue and checked on the geese family a few days ago and all seems fine now.
Please be responsible with your fishing lines if you fish there! Let’s respect...
