We are very glad we visited this museum to learn about Timmins. This mining region is where a great amount of the wealth produced in Canada has come from on the backs of many Canadians, including new immigrants. Think about this with all the massive squandering of wealth by greedy politicians. We found it refreshing not having to deal with propaganda and ideological agendas in the display writeups. One big gap in the museum is quality info on the religious dynamic in the history of Timmins. Also, the display writeups could use the help of a proof reader.

This museum is free of charge. There are two parts to it in which one is changed every couple months. The second stays the same and includes a tour of the green house in front of the museum.

OK, it doesn't take a lot of time but it gives you a great overview and history on the mining industry, the shop has some nice things too! Glad we made the stop while we were in town.

Over all this is a nice little museum, it has 2 rooms of exhibits. One room was all local art and all of it was amazing, the other room had lots of neat exhibits and we learned lots! They also have a lovely gift shop with local made items. I love the way they support the community. At the front entrance there is a bucket of free samples of drilled core, we missed it on the way in and almost missed it on the way out, the kids loved being able to pick a 'special rock'. We had a great afternoon at the museum, just wish it was...
