Below is my review from prior wonderful summers there.] One of Toronto's best kept secrets. Everyone knows about 'The Beaches' beach but few know about Cherry Beach. Cherry Beach feels more like a cottage-country beach compared to 'The Beaches' Venice Beach vibe. A terrific place to take preschoolers to toss play in the sand and toss pebbles into the water. Wonderful hiking, jogging, biking, running trail goes right past taking you into a couple miles of nature leading you to the Leslie St Spit. NOT dog friendly. Dogs are not permitted on the beach. Read moreWhen you can't make it to the Toronto Islands or they are closed (flooding of 2017) this is a quick "go to". Grab the bike, take your car or hop on the TTC. There are life guards on duty at the main beach as well as bathroom facilities, along with a food truck vendor. Large beach areas to lounge on. At the far west side there is a big fenced off leash free area right on the water to bring 'Fido'. Towards the east end are a few more beach areas mixed with trees, not as many people as the main area. To the far East end there is some boat group that takes over the beach area, not really blocked off but generally known not to go there unless you are part of the club. The environment that changes every 200 meters really has a diverse foliage from trees shrubs and weeds. The ferns growing under the task trees are exceptionally pretty with the way the sun will trickle through the branches as the wind blows revealing a magical scene of colors and smells. There is some garbage that is piled or stem about from careless campers and/or the homeless which tend to congregate in the park. Catnip is freely available in certain areas as well as Rose Hips and many other types of plants. Go and explore buddy front be shocked by the promiscuity that does occur here.
