This review is strictly for Todd and his amazing tour. Unfortunately I have never left this museum so disappointed and dissatisfied. This museum has always been one of my favourite parts about growing up in Nanton. Even having had my graduation ceremony at the Bomber Command Museum. My grandfather had driven down BC to come see the museum with me for the afternoon as he had never been. It takes a while for him to get around after his past injuries so we arrived around 3pm to give ourselves time. Knowing the museum closed at 5, at 4:45pm we headed to the front desk (as directed by signage) to see if my grandfather could quickly take a look inside the Bomber plane now that he wouldn’t be in the way and could take his time for the remaining minutes. I was told “No as we still have to shut off lights and do floors”. I have worked customer service for a long time and usually closing duties happen after the building is closed to the public.I would have made sure we are out of the building by 5 as I understand there is a reason businesses have their open-close hours. My grandfather will be gone before the museum opens back up on Thursday so this was very upsetting. Wish I would have waited to see the whole experience before deciding my...

Yesterday- Made the short trip to the Bomber Command Museum of Canada in Nanton AB. I was favorably impressed. The Lancaster Bomber is as impressive as ever. They are trying to obtain a Halifax Bomber (build from parts) which would take an already impressive museum to the next level. If one has never been to the National Airforce Museum in Trenton Ont. (which has the magnificent Halifax Bomber - been there and bought the Tee Shirt as well....lol), this is one of the finest Air museums around. It is mostly dedicated to the heroic and magnificent efforts around the bombing campaigns in WW2, but has many other artifacts from our beginnings as a Canadian Airforce as well. Many very famous Albertans did their parts in the creation of our Airforce (RCAF), and in WW2. Oh Yeah.....Bought the Tee Shirt...

A number of a/c that I have flown were on pedestals My late wife’s sisters husbands brothers name is listed on the memorial. He died over the North Sea on bombing raid during WW 2. I was impressed by the number of teen agers involved in the reconstruction of aircraft.

I am 90 years old and remember the Battle of Britain as a young boy in Croydon UK. We lived close B of B airfields of Kenley , Croydon and Biggen. Hill. I watched the Hurricanes and Spitfires flying over my house as well as the early Meteor jets never believing I would earn RAF wings during my Nation Service and then serve another 34 years in the RCAF/CF, Flying thousands of hours including rotary wing helicopters and Commanding 427 Tactical Helicopter Squadron, a famous wartime...

Bomber Command Museum located in amazing little town of Nanton, Alberta. It is a must see! They restore and bring back to life many historic aircraft mainly from WWII. The star of the show is the Lancaster bomber where Carl likes to say “let’s convert some gasoline to noise” and fired up the four V12 Rolls Royce Merlin engines! Spectacular to see and hear! They are also working on rebuilding a Halifax bomber. While at the museum please take a moment to remember the brave men who fought for our freedom at the Memorial wall. Also, I’d like to thank Zarchary for showing me the restoration shop and the work that was being done. Admission is by donation and every dollar helps to keep the museum. So much important history!

For a small museum, the content and authenticity is world class. I have to confess that I've driven by a few times and never visited. It turns out I have been missing a gem. If you are a fan of history or WWII, or just want to learn the sacrifice of Bomber Command and RCAF, this is definitely worth a visit. Having been to a few WWII museums in Europe and in Normandy, this one is up there. The entrance fee is by donation (suggestion is $10/adult or $20/family). Not going to lie, for a cultural attraction, I would rank this ahead of any other in Calgary or Southern Alberta. A must visit!
