If you are arriving in Cesme by sea it will be one of the first and most memorable landmarks you will see. Or if you drive or walk to the seaside promenade in the town center of Cesme, you will see it rise up majestically beside you. It is Cesme's most special building, it has a history of over 500 years and it is also the building you will notice every time you venture into Cesme's center. The Cesme Castle and Museum is a piece of history that must be visited by every visitor to Cesme. The Cesme Castle was ordered built in 1508 by the Ottoman ruler Beyazit II. The castle was built on the waterfront but because the sea has subsequently been filled there is currently a road passing in front of it. The edifice has recently undergone a successful renovation and you will witness a typical Ottoman castle. By climbing up the stairs on either side you will reach the top where you can view a 360 degree panoramic view of Cesme. As you climb up, you will see two different courtyards where some historical artifacts and tombstones are exhibited. There are also two museums inside the castle; one of them has historical artifacts brought over from the nearby Ionian city of Erythrai (current day Ildir) and the other museum has relics from the three day naval war fought between the Ottomans and Russians. The castle also plays host and serves as an interesting venue to summer concerts which are part of the annual Izmir Festival.

Beautiful castle with lots of history We can see whole of cesme from the top of the castle The view from the towers are beautiful and scenic The entry ticket is cheap and worth every penny Ticket price 18 turkish lira The castle has a museum which shows the history of cesme and of turkey has a whole We can see one of the islands of greece from the top of the castle The structure is well maintained and there is regular preservation work going on around the castle I did not expect to visit the castle in my cesme trip but we had lots of free time so we just entered the castle to see whats inside We spend a few hours in the castle enjoying the view of the sea and fresh air The museum also is big and has many different things from different ages A recommended visit for those who have free time in cesme and like history

Great castle 🏰 with lots of history. Of course, to go through it all the artifacts displayed and read all descriptions you'd need a few hours otherwise a stroll through would take no lomger than 30 minutes in/out. It'd give you super nice views of the water and the area (as was necessary of course since this used to be a gaurd watch. 📢 Great tip: Türkiye 🇹🇷 offers 7/10 day historical entrance passes that are valid COUNTRY wide. If you're here to go sightseeing, this pass will probably save you a lot of 💵 and ⌚ as opposed to buying entrance individually everytime and standing in line ups.

Wonderful place, very peaceful and clean place. Loved the walk way around the marina, never crowded and good for photo shooting, with various coffee shops and restaurants and wide range of cousins. The sun set was majestic, got the chance to see one of the cruise 🚢 that was docking at Çeşme and watch it sailing by the sun set Various decorated shops of quality and branded goods with reasonable prices, however the restaurants were overpriced, although the food was delicious Recommend to spend afternoon in this area if you are nearby.

Very well cared for castle and museum in the center of town. Parking is tricky, but be patient, keep circling, and something will open up. The town is small, so walking is durable. The castle costs 100TL pp, and it will take about an hour to visit. The museum is fascinating and well cared for. Particularly the Russian connection to Cesme history. Dehumidifiers and AC on the castle rooms with artifacts. Very nice. WC is excellent, first class, as well. Nice stone and tile. Views are very good as well.
