Balıkçı Niyazi — Restaurant in Çeşme

Do NOT go to this restaurant.unless you want to be ripped off. Sure the view is nice but there is NO MENU and until you pay the bill you have NO WAY of knowing what you order will cost. The waiters are « smiling assassins » as a result. As a solo traveller I had a small salad, smoked aubergine & yoghurt dip with a side order of sliced bread (the latter tasted similar to what you’d feed the birds and was inedible) Then a plainly grilled fillet of sea bass with 2 glasses of (local) white wine Which whilst pleasant it certainly doesn’t warrant a bill of 2,607 TL (£77.84)!! Needless to say I didn’t leave a tip and left with a very bad taste in my mouth ☹️. With a 4.6 star rating on Trip Advisor, they are taking revenue away from other local Restos who prob struggle to survive out of season. This place should either be regulated or closed down unless they do the minimum, provide a ne menu so people know in advance what they are paying for. They are SHARKS, so my advice is vote with your feet and go somewhere else and pay half the price at more honestly run restaurants in Alacati. they give Turkey a very bad name. Disgraceful...

We went because of pictures which was a beautifully lit restaurant by the sea. Worst meal experience in 20 days in Turkey. There is No menu. We were aggressively sold fish which is priced per kilo. We were able to negotiate some mezes, shrimp and asked for a plate of calamari for 4 which turned into 4 large plates of calamari and no shrimp was on the bill. Did not the price of anything until an over priced bill came. Avoid this place and eat in Alcati unless your speak Turkish. Read other low rated reviews for similar experiences.

The ambience is the only thing to write home about when it comes to this establishment unfortunately. We were informed that they did not do menus, and therefore we did not know what to expect in terms of pricing, oddly. Appetizers and drinks were presented fairly quickly, but it felt like ages, for our order of fish to arrive. I would'nt say that the food is awful per se, but I can say without a doubt that the prices are not proportionate to what you receive.
