Named for its abundance of iron oxide-colored agates found along its namesake Pacific Ocean beach, Agate Beach offers stores and casual dining along the Oregon Coast Highway. Fishing, clamming, and surfing are popular activities at the scenic Agate Beach State Recreation Site, while the Yaquina Head Marine Garden wildlife refuge is home to mammals at Seal Rock and the landmark 1873 Yaquina Head Lighthouse.
