I visited Saltos de Petrohue in 2010 and I’m disappointed to say it’s become super commercialized and now it’s completely overrun by tourists. We arrived early and by the time we left there were more than 15 giant tour buses outside + hundreds of people, shoulder to shoulder in the area near the falls & hundreds more waiting to enter. It would be nice if the CONAF would open the park before 9AM and restrict access to tour operators before a specific time. Read moreBeautiful place. In Spanish they have a lot of words for types of waterfalls. In English I would say these are more like ‘tumbling rapids’ than true waterfalls where water is free falling. Nevertheless I recommend a visit here. The unique thing about Petrohué is seeing how the water carved through the volcanic rock. Great walking path and infrastructure which puts you right over the top for easy viewing. We are especially impressed by the crystal clear blue water. Read moreTruly a magical place!!! This is an absolute must if you are visiting Puerto Varas. Tickets are 2.000 pesos (1.5usd) and you can buy them at the entrance. You can take the bus from the city center, and it is about a 40 min ride, that ends in Lago de todos los santos! The waterfalls are surrounded by bridges that allow you to take pictures. At the distance you can also ser the Osorno volcano! The crystal clear blue water is unbelievable!
