Nearly 500 years old, the Imperial Vault of Heaven has been used for centuries as a part of ceremonies at the Temple of Heaven. A small courtyard adjoining the Vault of Heaven and a few buildings on its flanks is all you'll find here, but there is a lot of history and some pretty neat architecture packed in this tiny area. Like some of the other attractions in the Temple of Heaven park, you will need to purchase the more expensive combination ticket to gain access to this area, but I can assure you the ticket is worth it, as all of the must-see spots in this park cannot be accessed with the basic ticket.
