This is a section of the old shipyards at Lai Chi Vun Village just north of Coloane, an important industry in the area that peaked in the mid 20th-century but fell into decline and finally closed down in the 1990s.
The gov restored an area and created a heritage attraction that has only recently opened to the public. You can learn about shipbuilding history in Macau and particularly here at the Lai Chi Vun site. Some model ships, old equipment, film clips form the bulk of displays. 現時荔枝碗船廠片區首階段活化開放X11-X15地段,其面積約三千多平方米。片區內設有展覽、巿集、表演空間及工作坊等。
