If you're craving a scenic escape without the sweat, the "Pineapple Dam Nature Trail" 😉 is a gem tucked beside the shimmering Shing Mun Reservoir in Hong Kong. 🌿💧 The trail is just under 1 km long, mostly flat, shaded by tall trees, and perfect for beginners or families. No hiking boots needed just comfy sneakers will do. Gorgeous Blue Waters: The reservoir’s calm, sapphire surface is framed by rocky banks and lush greenery. After rain, the paperbark trees even appear submerged, creating a surreal mirrored landscape. Expect encounters with macaques (don’t feed them!), fluttering butterflies, and seasonal blooms like Hog Plum and Desmos flowers that shift from green to white. The dam’s name harks back to the pineapple fields once cultivated by Hakka villagers...

Many different ways to go hiking from this spot. Novice hikes all the way up to advanced hikes. You can enjoy nature and the wildlife of Hong Kong. You will most surely see monkeys, along with the odd wild pig and maybe even a porcupine or two! You might see cows wandering around enjoying the local greenery. Don't be afraid of the cows, as long as you don't approach them quickly, they are actually very docile and friendly. The monkeys are fun to watch, but due to many people hand feeding them, they can be aggressive. Just be mindful of that when you are having snacks for yourself. You will quickly have a few little friends standing around looking for a snack as well. Enjoy this beautiful area...

Fantastic hiking trail that is easily accessible by mini bus. The hike itself winds around the reservoir and is manageable for hikers of all skills levels. Even kids will enjoy the casual walk around the blue water.

There are numerous monkeys along the path, so do be careful not to scare or taunt them, as they can be aggressive. If you don't startle them, they will generally leave you alone.

The hike lasts for a good 3-4 hours, so plan accordingly. There is very little food or drink available for purchase along the way. At the beginning of the trail you can sometimes buy...

The Pineapple Dam Nature Trail along the Shing Mun Reservoir is a great place for those of you who like hiking. Here we can walk leisurely while enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way. Many interesting photo spot in this very beautiful place. For the location route from MTR Tsuen Wan, exit B1, then walk straight ahead until you find the stairs going down. Follow the stairs to the mini bus stop number 82, then get off at the last stop. From here we start our journey to the Peneapple Dam Nature Trail. _AichA_
