It's a nice place to spend some free time lot's of small cafe and craft shop. I enjoy the shops lot's of seat to rest after long walking. No enterence fee easy to ehailing and you get luxury ride very affordable in fact the cheapest i have use anywhere. To cross over to shenzhen u can grab a bullet train from kowloon only 1 station away and you reach paid about RM 40.00 one way buy ticket online but please note that immigration to China from Hong Kong very slow lot's of security check so come very very early we almost miss our train stuck in immigration for 1 hours and once arrive you will have to navigate your exit in a very big train station so mark your location you will need it when u go back to Hong Kong . There is very little signage everything in mandarin no English and information counter close at office hours. In my opinion waste of time if you planning day trip to shenzhen and it has lot's to offer very affordable one day trip not worth it. Another thing is that all shop do not take cash so make sure you have alipay or touch n go or wechat pay otherwise forget about China and my Mastercard and visa does not work also. Both alipay and wechat pay work only with wallet so top up first if you link to either visa or Mastercard it will not work . Touch n Go not everywhere can use also . My advice Do some research before u come to China otherwise u...

Where history meets creativity — a must-visit in Shenzhen Nantou Ancient City completely surprised me. In a city often known for its rapid development and futuristic skyline, this spot feels like a quiet rebellion — a beautiful blend of centuries-old heritage and modern cultural design. The ancient city walls and alleyways are still intact, but now they're interwoven with minimalist cafes, art spaces, and boutique stores that feel thoughtfully curated rather than overly commercialized.

What I loved most was the contrast — one moment you're standing in front of a Qing dynasty residence, the next you're sipping coffee in a sleek, light-filled concept store. There’s a peaceful, almost poetic atmosphere here that makes you slow down and take it all in. It’s not just a historic site — it’s a living, breathing neighborhood with stories still unfolding.

Shenzhen might be famous for its tech and skyscrapers, but Nantou shows a different, more soulful side of the city. Definitely worth spending an afternoon exploring — and don’t forget...

After a few packed days of sightseeing, Nantou Ancient City was exactly the kind of place I needed to slow down. It’s not huge or overly polished, but that’s part of what makes it feel real. There’s a nice balance here — old stone alleys and traditional architecture still show through, even with the more modern stores and cafés scattered around. You can feel the history in the walls and pathways, but it doesn’t feel frozen in time. More like the city’s quietly living its next chapter. I didn’t do much here besides just walk, explore the side streets, and let the pace drop a bit. That ended up being the best part. No rush, no noise — just a relaxed vibe, a few hidden spots to discover, and space to breathe. If you’re looking for something low-key after the big tourist stops, Nantou is a solid place to wind down and reconnect with a slower rhythm.
