Had a beautifully serene morning here. There are over 3,000 works in the collection at this quaint museum. You will learn about Pedro Gomez, what inspired and drove him, his family and his influence on Colombian art. It seems that he was most well known as a muralist, but the collection showcases many different mediums.

The landscaping and grounds are also quite nice to spend a bit of time taking it in.

A few notes:

Google Translate does a decent job if you aren’t super fluent in Spanish. The language used to describe the artwork is pretty sophisticated, but you will get the gist.

The museum is about a 15 min walk from the Universidad stop on the Metro...

Although I liked some of the watercolors, and a few of the architectural drawings were interesting as they related to the history of Medellín, most of the art was unimpressive, reflecting the artist’s limited vision for the role of women in society and an insulting view of indigenous peoples. Perhaps the museum is best understood as documenting the now-outdated views of an elite Colombian man of the mid-20th century.

Just being in the house itself offers a pleasant respite from the noisy city. The walk down from #1 bus line stop at Aranjuez is nice enough; However, I can’t recommend the walk to/from the...

The kind of place you discover when you look a little beyond the usual Medellin tourist sites. No crowds. This museum is the artist’s home. Wonderful experience. Fascinating artwork. If you’re interested in Colombian history - this is an excellent stop off the beaten path.
