Had a beautifully serene morning here. There are over 3,000 works in the collection at this quaint museum. You will learn about Pedro Gomez, what inspired and drove him, his family and his influence on Colombian art. It seems that he was most well known as a muralist, but the collection showcases many different mediums.
The landscaping and grounds are also quite nice to spend a bit of time taking it in.
A few notes:
Google Translate does a decent job if you aren’t super fluent in Spanish. The language used to describe the artwork is pretty sophisticated, but you will get the gist.

Read moreAlthough I liked some of the watercolors, and a few of the architectural drawings were interesting as they related to the history of Medellín, most of the art was unimpressive, reflecting the artist’s limited vision for the role of women in society and an insulting view of indigenous peoples. Perhaps the museum is best understood as documenting the now-outdated views of an elite Colombian man of the mid-20th century.

Este era el Hogar-Taller donde vivió el maestro Pedro Nel Gómez, quien fuera uno de los principales muralistas de Latinoamérica y de quien se cuenta con innumerables obras. La casa se inicio como museo en el año de 1975, gracias a la donación que hicieron no solo el artista sino también su familia quienes entregaron mucha de las obras. La residencia posee decoraciones y murales al fresco en un área de ciento sesenta metros cuadrados. Allí se conserva en archivo los "cartones" preparatorios de los cerca de 2.200 metros cuadrados de decoraciones murales al fresco realizadas en múltiples espacios y edificios públicos de la ciudad y del país. Guarda cerca de tres mil obras de arte entre dibujos, acuarelas, óleos, pasteles, y algunas esculturas y proyectos arquitectónicos. Su Biblioteca Giuliana Scalaberni conserva cerca de dos mil libros y más de cinco mil documentos sobre la vida y obra del artista.
