Playa Colonia — Attraction in Puntarenas Province

Gorgeous beach and park area with a minimal entrance fee. There is wonderful gentle surfing here for all levels beginner to advanced. Sandy bottom and no boulders or coral to worry about. There are stingrays, and we didn't see any. I highly recommend the $6 entrance fee for much better access to a bathroom, handwashing station, foot washing, and great shaded areas to place your belongings in. Playa Colonia is the best beach to experience Ballena National Park & the famous Whale's Tail Beach. 1/ Entrance is free. Parking is free. Beautiful beach with easy access. This beach is part of the Ballena marine natural park, so prepare to pay a minimal fee for access. The park has toilets and showers near the entrance. No plastic bags or bottles are allowed. When we visited here the waves were quite big but there was a lifeguard on duty.
