Visiting Volcan Irazu was a breathtaking experience! Just the ride to the volcano is amazing, many spots to take photos. Unfortunately you can’t see the green water on the bottom of the volcano any longer. If you go for that photo, you will be disappointed. However, the sight of the majestic crater and the surrounding landscapes left me in awe. The drive up the winding roads was scenic, and the views from the top were absolutely stunning. I highly recommend this destination for anyone looking to appreciate the beauty of Costa Rica's natural wonders. The park staff were friendly and knowledgeable, making the visit even more enjoyable. It can take you 1 hour or less just to walk around, take photos and relax. There is a cafeteria in the parking lot area. Don't miss out on this incredible opportunity to witness the power and beauty of nature at...

Irazu is the highest volcano in Costa Rica, its top is often engulfed with fog as it was when I visited about 20 years ago. This time we got lucky with the weather. It was sunny and clear. But alas the blue /quartz lake in the main volcano crater is gone and the crater is now dry, and roughly 400 meter deep. The volcano has two other smaller craters both with no lakes either. There is a short trail along the main crater but not much else. It is certainly interesting to see the largest/highest volcano in the countries but other than the craters there is not much else there. The parking lot, and public toilets. I went there as a part of day tour but I hear entry fee is high, around $15 per person. Nevertheless I think it is worth visiting because even the way in the mountains there...

Not worth your money. They charged me and my family usd 45 for the entry (including 2 young kids -2 and 4 ys old) and they still wanted to charge usd 5 for parking the car. I didn't want to pay for this, so I asked to take my wife and kids with the car until the parking space and come back outside the entrance, but they didn't even allow that. So we had to carry the kids walking all the way (very gentle of them). The park itself is not that special, you see part of the crater of the volcano, which is nice to see, but that's it. In my opinion not worth the money at all. The road until the park is very nice...

Not really happy that you buy tickets in advance and you still have to pay for parking, lol include that in the price of the ticket. Gift shop was over priced and I feel like they could have told us at the gate that it was too foggy to see anything, like completely covered in clouds, yet when we were driving up it was clear. Typical costa rica weather we waited an hour for it to clear but never did so i wasted the hour of my trip.
