If you want to visit an example of a fortress built right at the sea, Vitturi Castle is something you shouldn't miss!
Vitturi castle is one of the finest examples of fortresses built along the Kaštela coastline for the defense of the local population during the 15th and 16th centuries.
The castle consists of a large central courtyard surrounded by two-story buildings. The second-floor windows and the south-facing balcony have Renaissance decoration. The south wall laid in the sea has an emergency exit to which ships can dock. The north wall with two towers is separated from the mainland by a moat filled with seawater and a bridge above it.
Entrance to the castle is free, and you only need about half an hour for a visit. Inside the castle, you will find the tourist board of the city of Kaštela where you can get all the information about the Kaštela area.
There is free parking available around the castle and several cafes where you can enjoy a drink in a pleasant atmosphere with sea view!
