A nice little museum which was practically empty at my time of visit. Probably a good introduction to the city if it's your first time in Prague - though it was my 5th visit and I still learned a lot, plus it helped put things into context. There is little English spoken by the staff but enough to get you inside and then you're left to your own devices to wander from room to room and floor to floor. When you purchase your ticket you can also take a timed ticket for a 3D film in the basement - it takes you round the model of the city that is located on the top floor - sadly out of order on my visit. Also in the basement are a child's play area and a learning room. There are some wonderful artifacts and informative information plaques. The mural on the stairs is lovely too. Practical stuff - this museum is NOT for anyone in a wheelchair. There are steps up to the entrance, steps from the ticket office to the main museum (where there's a cloakroom) and steps up to every floor. And by steps I mean big flights of stairs ! Strangely there is a stairlift from the 1st floor to the basement where the 3D film is ! Though how you'd get to the 1st floor is beyond me ! There are also disabled loos. It's also difficult for those with mobility problems but if you take the stairs slowly it's possible to get around. Being empty makes it easier to manage the stairs as there's no jostling. There is a water dispenser on the 2nd floor, not sure if it was for general use but it was a hot day and I'd just managed to get myself up the stairs so I...

Just a heads up that the staff don't speak a lot of English but are very helpful and hand gestures on both parts go a long way. There also isn't a cafe or much of a gift shop, but it's still a fantastic stop, away from the crowds...
