As others have said, this is a very small museum; just two large rooms, ending with a film biography at the end, so perhaps the almost £12 ticket is a little steep, however having been a fan of Mucha’s work since I was a teenager, it was well worth the price and I’m so glad I went. Seeing his prints up close in real life gives you even more appreciation for his artistry, and I had no idea how many advertisements he’d been commissioned to do. The film at the end was also really insightful - I didn’t know about the buildings in Prague featuring his artwork and I wish we’d done the museum at the start of our trip so I’d have had the chance to see this, instead of at the end before our late afternoon flight! It was a shame a couple of the prints are on loan in South Korea but lucky for me I just happen to be headed there in a few weeks so I may get to see them!
The shop is also well worth a visit, as the items on sale are high quality and include large prints, gorgeous and original tote bags and the tea caddy I purchased.
If you’re a fan of Mucha, you should definitely pay a visit. The museum was also really quiet (we visited Tuesday lunchtime) so you could take your time and enjoy the artwork. We spent 1.5 hours here not including the shop.
Thanks...
Read moreI love this museum where you can see Mucha’s sketches and processes, but I was disappointed with the shop. Ticket price for the museum is pretty high, also prices in the souvenir shop are understandably high too (centre of the city, etc). Considering this they don’t have the cheapest wrapping paper to pack pictures you want to take as souvenirs, also they don’t pay attention to pack reproductions carefully. Sorry, I didn’t like to see fingerprints on my fresh bought reproduction, also my friend didn’t like when one of the staff member damaged her poster trying to put it inside the tube (cause those tube didn’t fit the poster size and it was seen from the beginning, but those person simply didn’t care, my friend should control if her poster is ok, of course it was damaged, so she asked to change it and don’t use the tube). Like, you know, you pay pretty much money to have something nice to remember this place, but there is no fitting tubes or wrapping paper to keep your reproductions safe for transportation. I hope something will change and people here will be more careful with stuff...
Read moreRecently visited this museum with my husband, I must say it was absolutely pleasurable to see Mucha’s work and it was elegantly placed- there was also so much option in terms of prints and for which we bought many. However I found the experience made bitter by the woman who was on shift at the time. Unsure of her name as I could not get it by time I wanted to leave as she was potentially getting ready to leave her shift: long blonde hair, rather sharp in the face with a Roman shaped nose, and a very skinny figure. I was completely disregarded upon arrival and she failed to acknowledge my existence, but was able to keep her eyes and feet behind my husband at all times, by the time we had made it to the gift shop she made a snarky expression towards me. I think this woman should learn respect for oneself and keep her lewd behaviour to herself, instead of attempting to perform for a man who his present with his wife who...
