The art was good but the museum could improve its wayfinding system. During my visit, I kept walking in circles because it wasn’t clear where to start or which way to go. I also couldn’t find an English version of the map at the ticket counter.
In the restrooms, the male and female icons were designed quite similar. Although there were large portraits of male and female characters at the entrance to help indicate the rooms, some visitors might assume these are just decorations and rely only on the icons.

Local exhibition of famous painters with the original art work from famous artists. Well informed tour with stories from the artists own life and daily life from the time period of the different artists. Both entertaining and educational for both kids and adults. COVID secure and strict handling of public health guidelines from professional staff. Very high recommended /Jens (Why only 4 stars: a local special exhibition of paintings were not well installed. The lights from the ceiling were created a small shine in the oil paintings- making it difficult to fully experience the art work. This is a lovely museum with a special exhibition (May '18) featuring Michael Ancher's pictures of women - his wife, daughter, servants, and some rather grimmer pictures of his mother-in-law and sisters-in-law (leaving one in no doubt that he got the best deal marrying the one he did). The building has been extended since I last visited - tasteful, modern, beautifully finished, and in keeping with the original. The only downside for me was being challenged very peremptorily for taking a bag in and asked whether I had bought a ticket - which I had. It was a mistake at the desk, not by me.
