Definitely the nicest beach around Puerto Plata and the cleanest. The beaches in the City are quite dirty with glass and bottles everywhere. There are two restaurants that do a good job on Long beach and rake the sand everyday. But the rest of the 2 KM walk is really sad. Also the city does not take care of any of the washrooms aling the Malacon. Don’t even attempt to walk in them. Definitely go to Costambar if you want a clean beach. Sometimes it gets very windy, otherwise great for family with kids and non swimmers. Shallow spots all throughout the stretch. You have local vendors selling coconut water, dominican sweets (dulce de coco, almendra, cajuil, jalao). There's 1 main restaurant (Carey) looks fancy.
