It was a very low cost activity even with the higher rate for foreigners. I think we paid $5/adult and $4/child.

One of my children always wants to visit aquariums when we travel. Her favorites were the big silver fish and the turtles. I enjoyed nearly all of it, but the whale and manatee skeletons were pretty awesome. Oh, the tunnel was also a highlight.

The aquarium is basically a large pavilion with three or four different areas. All the signs were in Spanish, so we just looked at the names. If you read Spanish, there is a lot you can learn on the signs. There is also an auditorium, but we didn’t check it out.

After we finished with the aquarium, we went outside to the play area. It was originally a splash pad type play area, but looks like it’s been dry for quite a while. It was thankfully shaded. It was okay for a little while, but the 8 and 10 year olds were done pretty quick. There’s also a paved walkway with chest high railing along the cliff overlooking the ocean. It’s very pretty, but completely in the sun—so hot.

On a side note, the property has been maintained very well, and the pillars all have cute mosaics on them. There are several very large...

What a beautiful and relaxing experience I had today at El Acuario Nacional. This place is simply beautiful and fun for the entire family. Tickets prices are super affordable $75 Dominican pesos (around $1.50 US dollars) for children and $100 DOP (around $2 US dollars) for adults. The place is open and easy to keep an eye on the little ones. It’s a fun and educational experience. They have many species in display and bilingual detailed description. They kids love every single species and afterwards we sat outside to enjoy the beautiful weather and had ice cream from a super cute and affordable cafeteria for the public to enjoy refreshments. My favorite is the huge whale skeleton on display and sitting outside to enjoy the breeze and the view of the Caribbean Sea. The place was super easy to find as it is located nearby el Malecón de Santo Domingo. Staff was super professional and friendly and they also have wheelchair access. Public bathroom are clean and not crowded. Face mask are required for admission. I...

It’s good enough for children to enjoy and for families to have a great picnic day. You can bring your own food and picnic setup. The tickets are DOP $75 for children and DOP $100 adults and I’d you’re a foreigner a bit more. There’s a park that’s Gorgeous with many play areas for the kids.

The scenic view is the ocean is second to none and there’s a little path that allows you to walk with a perfectly clear view of the ocean and the...
