Restaurant Sabor Criollo — Restaurant in Santo Domingo Este

First off, the service is horrible. It seems like this restaurant doesn't care about the customers' time. We were there for brunch, the place was empty and service was so slow. The waitress took our order and didn't write anything down. I asked her to write it down and she ignored me. The drinks (natural juice) took forever to come. Three people in our party ordered coffee and it came out almost at room temperature with room temp milk. Eventually our food was served and of course, she messed up our order. We had ordered avocado on the side and it never came. My husband had to get up to go ask the owner about the salad since the waitress was missing in action. My husband and brother-in-law ordered a soup with tostones which was quite tasty. The plantain mofongo came out and it was just alright. The yuca mofongo was served later because it took longer to cook. However, when it arrived I was underwhelmed with the flavor and extremely dry texture.

I've visited this restaurant every time I travel to Santo Domingo. However, I think that this was my last visit. The service always sucks and the quality of the food has been going down hill over the years. The owner should take some lessons from restaurants in the US and should train his staff accordingly to differentiate itself from other restaurants...

I was in sabor criollo, we ordered sausage mofongo and pork rind mofongo, goldon blue breast, a lemon juice and a strawberry juice... the mofongo very dry and almost didn’t have what we asked for, the juices didn’t taste like anything they lacked more fruits, the breast was bad and hard, the béchamel sauce they put on So dry that the little broth they took us didn’t reach and it’s over...

There are many places where they make the mofongo better, it’s not worth the price we pay, it’s not worth the location, nor is it worth going to eat something that I could get in a more central place and that tastes better, I don’t recommend it and I wouldn’t come back.

El peor servicio que he recibido en un establecimiento de comida lo recibí aquí. Desde que llegamos fue un pésimo servicio camareras malhumorada y sin atención al cliente. La camarera literalmente tiraba las cosas, cuando la comida llegó a pesar de que fue ella quien tomó las órdenes tiro la comida ahí en la mesa y ni siquiera tuvo la delicadeza de decir de quien es este plato o este. Llego una persona de último y no pregunto si quería algo tomar, yo le pedi un jugo y me dejo con la palabra en la boca. Pedimos dos mofongos, el mofongo no tiene chicharron por parte, si creen que van a comer mofongo de chicharron se equivocaron, no tiene ni una gota de chicharron, solo es carne de cerdo como ripiada que le ponen (adjunto fotos). Y es como un mangu, no tiene crocante alguno. Los jugos de fresa no son buenos, el de chinola si. Pedimos también unas alas "picantes" con tostones y antes de pedirla la persona preguntó "¿son picantes?" A lo que la persona le dijo que si, adivinen, no lo eran. Pedimos unas carnitas de cerdo también que la persona lo dejo todo porque estaba bien malo. Lo mejorcito fueron las costillas que se pidieron y tampoco fue algo del otro mundo. Las cervezas pequeña calientes, en el menú dicen a 175 y realmente la cobran a 195 más impuestos. El administrador es el peor, la mesa del lado le llamo para una queja y él lo que le dijo que se fueran, que comieran en la calle. Ese señor es un mal hablado e irrespetuoso. Los empleados actúan de forma tan inadecuada y es por el jefe que tienen, debe ser horrible trabajar con una persona así. Además de nosotros, tres mesas más se pararon quejándose y diciendo que no volverían. Si quieres perder tu dinero y llevarte un mal rato ve a ese restaurante.

Postdata: el único beneficiado fue el perro de mi casa que se comió toda esa comida que sobro, porque...
