Popped in yesterday on a warm day. The rain from the day before seems to have changed things a bit, but it's still a beautiful spot.
Noticed lots more green areas that made for nice photo opportunities. There's quite a variety of mosses to have a look at if you're into that sort of thing. Plenty more bumble bees about too, which was lovely to see.
Had another good day out there. Always something different to discover each time I visit.
Worth a visit if you enjoy nature walks.

Huge bushes exploding with pink, purple, white, red flowers everywhere you look. Felt like walking through a giant, colourful tunnel in parts. Really unique for Helsinki.
It's not a huge park, more like a long, dense stretch along a path, but packed with flowers. Smells amazing too on a warm day. Totally free, easy to get to by bus or tram. The downside aboit is that It gets packed when the blooms peak. Like, seriously crowded on a sunny weekend. And the bloom window is short miss it by a week or two and it's just green bushes.
If the rhododendrons are blooming, It's a spectacular, almost overwhelming display. Just try for an early morning or weekday if you can to dodge the biggest crowds. A real hidden gem for...
Read moreFor a short time, this is probably the most beautiful spot in Helsinki. Typically the rhododendrons have bloomed in mid summer. Twice now the summer has been early though. The place is full of flower at the moment of writing. The very earliest blooms are showing the first signs of dying. This will still be a spot to visit for days. From the platforms you can get above the bushes and see a sea of flowers around you. The lower growing relative of ves of rhodos bloom a bit later; already on. They are more varied in colours. Strongly recommended. There is a bunch of quite tame squirrels. They'll come near to get some nuts or seeds if you have any. But they've never been...
