The best thing by far was the permanent exhibition of the Museum of Central Finland. It uses sights, sounds, and objects to tell about the history of Central Finland and the City of Jyväskylä in an engaging way. It offers plenty to explore also for children. As for the other exhibitions, for the most part they were very text-heavy with not that many objects to see.

I also visited the Museum Shop but there was no one from the staff there to tell about the items that the shop sells, some of which were very pricey.

The tickets were also expensive, especially considering what you get for that money, I didn't really feel like I got my money's worth. Same thing went with the café. There was pasta and salads as well as some sweet things. I chose one of the salads. It took quite a while for the salad to arrive and the salad was bit of a disappointment. The café itself was nothing special. In fact, the company that runs it seems to have another café-restaurant just across the street as well a few others on the campus area next to the museum centre and one in the main city library.

All in all, if it was just for the Museum of Central Finland's permanent exhibition, I would give it 5 stars. Unfortunately, the other aspects drag the general score...

Provide a student card. • Minors get free entrance. • The Finnish Museum Card (Museokortti) is accepted here 🏛️ • The (magnificent) building was designed by Alvar Aalto and completed in 1961. • It’s well worth a visit!!! I really enjoyed visiting and learnt a lot. The exhibitions are very varied and...

It's both an interesting and well-designed museum. The exhibition is very interactive. It caters to visitors of different age groups and interests. There is a great playroom with all kinds of crafts, historical object's, and dress-ups. Definitely worth a visit
