The office is great and the people are helpful. This review and rating relate to the booking through their website.
We booked an apartment in Clarines apartment complex through Office de Tourisme website. The apartment was managed by Fonca property management company and that's where we picked up the keys. My communication with Office de Tourisme wasn't smooth from the start as our requests for sheets and towels had to go back and forth a few times since they had to be forwarded to Fonca first. We were finally told by Office de Tourisme that property management company would provide everything. Upon arrival we picked up the keys and we were told that the everything was taken care of. Once in the apartment we found that they provided sheets but not the towels. Of course by then their office was closed and there was no way to get the towels. The next day was Sunday which was obviously a day off for the property management company. Nobody answered the emergency phone posted on their door and their voice mail was full. Office de Tourisme wanted to help us but they couldn't find anybody on Sunday either. On Monday we were told by Fonca that they didn't have any towels and later that day we had to buy the towels ourselves after we greed to be reimbursed by the Office de Tourisme.
I reiterate that Office de Tourisme did their best to help us (especially that they're open every day) but at the end booking through them (at least the properties managed by Fonca) wasn't a good...
Read moreThe resort is great, but travelling around it is horrendous. It's labelled as a "car free" resort, but buses are patchy at best. If I'm in Peisey-Vallandry and out for dinner after a day on the hill, I would expect to finish up around 8pm. There is no bus at this time. I would have to leave around 6pm, or wait until the next (and last) bus around midnight. In practice then, if I want to have dinner or a few drinks in one of the restaurants/bars, I would have to walk back down the mountain, in the dark and on the snow banks. If the lobster pots continued to run that would be fine, but they don't. The result? Lots of drunk people driving up and down the mountain, making walking an even worse idea. So people often don't bother going out at all, reducing the amount of money I would otherwise spend in restaurants and bars at the foot of the mountain. I will certainly reconsider coming back to Peisey unless this is sorted out. A bus every hour at a minimum, but please sort out this mess. Once upon a time, the buses were more reliable. If you truly want a car free, safe resort, you have to offer...
Read moreTL;DR: Great resort, great ESF, but buses are absurd !!
Great resort overall, and a big thanks to the French Ski School (ESF) who were really lovely all week long.
But really upset with the bus network. Timetables and itinerary are approximative. Buses are often not designed for people carrying skies and snowboards.
And above all, we had a very unpleasant experience. There’s a special shuttle for the resort workers at 17:40, and another for everyone else at the same time. First of all, it’s absurd, as one bus is 80% empty. But what really upset us is that resort workers just take any shuttle, get along with the driver, and tell everyone else to wait longer. And then when their shuttle arrives, the driver don’t want to take in anyone not...
