I would summarize the experience as wonderful, albeit with minor points for improvement. We rented two adjoining rooms with a balcony offering a partial mountain view. The room was very spacious, featuring a sitting area with a sofa. The mattress was very comfortable, as were the pillows and the quality of the bed linens. The bathroom included a bathtub and a shower with good water pressure. The amenities were of good quality. The room provided tea and coffee, which were replenished daily, and the closets were ample for a week-long stay—especially with connecting rooms. I found the size of the room to be excellent.
The view from the balcony was quite interesting—not panoramic, but you could see the approach of two slopes to the hotel. The hotel’s location is very good.
From the lockers to the nearest lift, you need to climb a few steps. After those few steps, there’s a gentle descent with skis attached right to the lift.
Breakfast was excellent, offering plenty of variety with new items every day, and lunch and dinner were equally impressive. The hotel offers a variety of amenities.
The staff deserves special mention for being extremely friendly overall. The bar in the main lounge was excellent, offering a diverse selection of drinks. The beers served were of outstanding quality. There was also a shop selling ski clothes and other interesting gear at fair prices.
The group ESF ski lessons were very good, with generally polite instructors. The groups were divided according to proficiency. It is evident that for the less experienced, taking private lessons for individualized technical corrections is advisable. In general, the price for private lessons is much lower than in the United States. We had private lessons with Jean Pierre, and my daughters with Fanny—I couldn’t recommend them more strongly. Extremely polite and technically skilled, they helped us have a spectacular week, I managed to ski down slopes I never imagined possible, and it was exhilarating.
The lifts are very conveniently located—one right at the exit of the lockers (after a few flights of stairs) and another behind the hotel, past the mini club. There was a good variety of slopes, there are also nice rest stops on the mountain and La Folie Doulce, which features a classic electronic party. Every morning upon arrival there was an après-ski, with good Prosecco available and a barbecue.
I found the ski shop excellent, with new and high-quality equipment. For the children, there were some slopes offering plenty of fun and entertainment, as well as good training areas.
The village of Pesey is very modest and lacks alpine charm; there aren’t many good shops, and this is definitely something to consider when choosing your hotel. In summary, we had a memorable experience. The management makes a great effort to keep everything running smoothly. You truly feel that the staff is committed to delivering high-level service in a genuine and spontaneous way. The food exceeded expectations, as did the quality of the rooms. In my view, maintenance was excellent—aside from a few minor organizational issues at the mini club (which I understand given the difficulty and complexity)—and I rate it with the highest marks. I highly recommend this resort and would...
Read moreI’m sad that I am posting this review. In general, the club Med set up is good. However the reason it drops down to 2 stars is due to the care of our 2year old. This gets 0 stars. I don’t know what the recruitment process is but the staff employed for the younger ones seem to have had the joy of life sucked out. Not one smile, no effort to engage with any of the children. My son is only just 2, so on the young side but they left him outside crying alone in the cold, no gloves. We complained and for a day it improved, then back to the dour sulking. No one plays with the children, it is basic supervision at best. He was genuinely terrified to go in on the second day and we are seriously regretting booking here. I certainly cannot recommend if for families with children under skiing age. I don’t understand why they can’t even bring themselves to smile, it is utterly bizarre.
The other factor that is really off putting is there is no savoury offering for children between 4 and 7pm. Maybe we are strange that we actually put our children to bed but our 4year old and 2year old are on their knees after a busy (and traumatic in the case of the younger child) day. So we are resorting to making a picnic tea for them to eat when we collect them from the kids club. There is a ‘baby corner’ but this only caters for very young babies with purées on offer. If there is an alternative not a single person has offered this. I never thought I would have to have the hassle of making the younger two children food every day, especially when I’m general, there is adult food available at almost any time of the day otherwise, Club Med please provide KIDS tea at the afternoon tea time. It doesn’t need to be fancy but it just can’t be Nutella on pancakes or churros.
We had organised a private lesson for our elder two the first morning after we arrived and no one at reception seemed to have any idea where they needed to go. This meant we were sent from pillar to post with skis and children in tow and only after another guest helped us did we find it. It wasn’t hard but we had never been told where anything was. The children were then late and we wasted loads of money. Fgs some of the front desk couldn’t even tell us the days the kids club...
Read moreFrom the moment we arrived there was always someone there to help or ask for assistance. Our luggage was whisked away as soon as we pulled up and was waiting in our room. Our specific room was designated as the wheelchair accessible room, and I am quite sure it was not used very often because there were a few issues. The wall climate unit didn't work, the fridge was unplugged (I thought it was broken) and never got really cool, the door took a great deal of effort to close and then took an extra tug just to make sure it was latched, and the door handle felt like it would fall off at any moment. I mentioned all of these to the front desk and they did get the heater working, but the air con never would turn on, and they also plugged in the fridge. The other items were never addressed. Food was amazing and there were a million different choices, including desserts and drinks. My only complaint with the bar was a lack of consistency, as your drink would never be the same twice. I would suggest that they work on making their bartenders more aware of global favorites too, since the have a global clientele. The pool is great and also has an outdoor portion if you're into swimming in the cold. I tried the spa and had a wonderful deep tissue massage with Thomas. We also purchased the ski package, with all the rental equipment included, and had a great experience with our instructor, Stephane, who had a great sense of humor and also some typical French dryness. We also made friends with many of our ski group since we saw each other everyday and spent a great amount of time together on the slopes learning to ski together. One piece of advice, pay the little bit extra for the insurance through the club, as it will greatly simplify the process should you have an accident while on the slopes. My husband had an accident, which required the ski ambulance and doctor's office, etc. We had a separate travel insurance, but will have to submit claims, etc. and get reimbursed later. Despite this, they still treated him very well and got him taken care. Overall, I can highly recommend this...
