Musée du Petit Lourdes — Attraction in Argelès-Gazost

On the 14/07/24, I went for a ride on The Petit Train while staying in Lourdes. This train, takes you on a journey around Lourdes & lets you see all the historic sights in the city. For example, Lourdes Castle, the old town as part of Lourdes is now known as, Boly Mill which was owned by Saint Bernadette’s Father & lots of other places here. Lourdes is well worth a visit & history is all around you & especially The Holy Grotto where Saint Bernadette saw 18 visions of The Virgin Mary & it is here, where the course of European History to place & eventually put Lourdes on The map of Europe & The World. A Litttle Hidden Gem and a must see in Lourdes

About 15 minute walk from the grotto in Lourdes, I had a spare hour to visit a museum and was so glad I picked this one. Away from the crowds, it doesn’t get the natural foot traffic but worth the trip. Gives you the history of the town during the apparitions and a real sense of the feel of the town in the 19th century. Still run by the same family for three generations and passionate about the history and went out of their way to make you feel welcome. This is a must see! The creator left his home in Paris as he felt a calling to build a replica of Lourdes basilica. Once he achieved this after 15 years of building he saw in the garden a place where he could replicate the grotto. We paid a reasonable price and were given a speaker that told us the story of St Bernadette and Lourdes as we strolled around the amazing Petit town. The creators grandson then told us some more very interesting facts and stories about the place and its origins.
