Hôtel Méditerranée - Lourdes Check in: We arrived around 9.30pm and we were given our keys (magnetic keys). Once we arrived at the door, it was impossible to open the door. The red light kept appearing. We went down to the reception and the receptionist set them up again. It did work this time. Those things happen.
The room: Once we opened the door, we were very surprised by the state of the room. We booked a double room with a large double bed. We had a classic double bed and a second bed next to it (single bed). Only one pillow for each person (without counting the decorative pillow). The duvet is very thin. The mattress is very firm - like wood. The decoration of the room is very basic - Ibis Style. We also find a long hair on the bed. The balcony shouldn’t be considered as a balcony when you cannot add a chair. The view is nice though. There is nothing you would expect in a 4-star hotel: no welcome pack, no coffee station with tea or coffee, no kettle, no minibar, no water, no directory. The cupboard is fitted with hangers in plastic - they do not correspond to 4-Star standards (check Atout France Guidelines). There is no plug near the bed. And no bathrobe.
The bathroom: Very rustic - old fashioned. Brown bath, the joints need a good cleaning, the tap is inverted (cold is hot and hot is cold), the shower curtain is ripped and doesn’t slide properly, the bathtub drain stopper doesn’t fit with the bath, the towels were left in bulk in the bathroom (see photo). There is also a spider at the entrance.
As they were no glasses in the room, we went to the reception and asked for wine glasses. The receptionist kindly gave us 2 glasses (dirty on the edges though). I took the opportunity to ask why we were given a triple bedroom when we booked a large double bedroom. The answer was “it’s the same price”. Clearly this is not about the price I was talking about but the type of room we booked.
The breakfast: The plus of our stay. The staff was very kind and the breakfast is generously served. The quality of the pastries and bread could be improved but it’s still good.
The check out: When you go to a 4-star hotel, you expect discretion and high end customer service. When we arrived, two receptionist were on the speaker phone having a phone conversation. Once they finished their call we were welcomed as you would welcome someone in a store. We were given the invoice and asked to pay for the room when it was done already at the time of the booking. There was no fuss about this, we simply paid the city tax and left.
All in one, this is not a place we recommend. Atout France is in charge of the hotel rating with guidelines to follow. They should come and check this hotel that deserves no more than 3 stars. This hotel has nothing about a 4-star hotel, services, customer service, quality...
Read moreDuring my recent stay at Hotel Mediterranee, I found some noteworthy aspects and areas that could use improvement.
One of the hotel's strongest points is its location, conveniently situated near Lourdes Church. This proximity made it easy for me to explore this historic site and the surrounding area.
The hotel staff left a positive impression with their warm welcome and friendly demeanor. Their hospitality added a welcoming touch to my stay.
However, there are some areas that could benefit from attention. The rooms, while functional, are on the smaller side, which may be a concern for guests seeking more spacious accommodations. Additionally, a closer eye on cleanliness is necessary, both in the rooms and particularly in the bathroom areas. Ensuring these spaces are consistently clean would greatly enhance the guest experience.
On a brighter note, the morning breakfast was a highlight of my stay, offering a good start to the day.
The presence of safe car parking is also a plus, especially for travelers with vehicles. Also they have a shop. That was very helpful for visitors and amazing one.
Hotel Mediterranee boasts a convenient location and friendly staff. However, there's room for improvement in terms of room size and cleanliness. If these areas are addressed, it could be an even more attractive choice for...
Read moreone of the worst hotels I’ve been at.
I get to the hotel and I had specifically had it booked for an 11:00am check in. They said the room wasn’t ready yet. We had to wait and go out shopping and we didn’t get our rooms till around 2:00pm. what a joke The lobby downstairs is full of flies and ants, disgusting. There was also a leak in the corridors on my floor.
The walls of the rooms are so thin you can hear anything. From downstairs some grown adults where blasting out music and I was unable to sleep at all. The toilets also don’t have any locks. How stupid. What fool would design something like that. If you don’t know any french using the TV will be a struggle for you unfortunately.
The other guests are so rude and heartless. I get into the lift with some fellow freinds and an rude, selfish woman says to us “why are you guys getting the lift leave it for the older people” “it’s people like you jumping and breaking the lifts” something like that. I felt like reporting her but chose not to.
Unfortunately the cutlery isn’t really washed well, the cups given to me had some food markings on them. Rooms could be slightly bigger and could include a fridge and maybe teacups and teabags.
Only stay at this hotel if you like rude guests, ants and flies around no sleep at night or dirty cutlery. (ALSO A LACK OF CHOICE OF FOOD...
